I used to feel pity for teams that were run disgracefully such as Blackpool, Aston Villa & Cardiff but we really now have become the laughing stock of English football. Each week I feel we can sink to no newer depths of lowness and each week I am surprised (don't know why) just to what lower depths we can sink. I envy the way clubs like Southampton & Bournemouth are run. Similar size clubs but ran with dignity, professionalism and decorum. Creating a respected brand, relationship with fans, attractive football and a great infrastructure from top to bottom. Right now. There is a horrible depression hanging over the club and the sooner this takeover happens, the better. - Badge needs redesigning (not to the old one) - We need a manager/first team coach with better credentials than the one we have. - Brand consistency across the board with the name of the club. - Rebuild our reputation. - For once a decent kit and training kit. - A respectable sponsorship. - Employ a sporting director of some credentials (Frank Arnesen type) - The clubs marketing & social media is piss poor and dated. Needs way better production value. - Phelan needs to go and so does the inept new assistant. - The whole staffing infrastructure at the club needs addressing. - Some deadwood players like need leave. - Poor academy needs addressing. We have a larger unopposed catchment area than many other clubs who do much greater mwith their academies. . Need some top coaches through the club. - Better communication with fans. - The stadium externally is an eyesore and needs cleaning. - The areas surrounding the stadium need redeveloping. There is almost no aspect of the club that is in a healthy position. We have a lot of potential and there is no reason why a club the size of Bournemouth should be ran so much better than ourselves.
That's a really bizarre list. You're right that there's a lot that needs doing, but why any would think the kit is a priority beats me. Or the new Assistant Manager.
The new assistant is 'inept' before he's even done anything ? Is that just because he accepted the job ?
So we're told. Yet a few years ago we had players from the academy making the odd first team game. Cooper, Bradley, Devitt, Atkinson, Cullen, Featherstone, Cairney, Wilson etc. All but one of those started league games for us. Not a brilliant record but better than just Tymon playing in the cup now and then. Investment in the academy is obviously a good thing, but we're kidding ourselves if we think it's led to any improvement in output to date.
The investment in the academy is one of the few things the Allams caan be commended for during their stewardship, though even doing that they managed to **** off half the city with the Airco debacle.
I want world peace Maybe a joke, but an element of reality is needed? I'd settle for new Owners, and work on goodwill and buy in. The branding and kit / crest etc. Is the least of our worries and not the problem. Attention needs to focus on winning back support, increasing gates, and refreshing the squad and team. Nothing should be lost on the peripherals such as strips and badges. Any messing with the brand may interfere with, and detract from the crucial work we all know needs attention. Edit... look what messing with the name did. Stick to the easy wins !
Out of all those players named only Tom Cairney has cut the mustard in the Championship. The rest would struggle to hold a place down in Ferribys team.
Featherstone is playing for non league and don't know about Wilson,, but the rest are all playing for league teams, so blows your opinion they wouldn't get in Ferriby's team out the water.
For anyone who's interested... Liam Cooper - Leeds United (Championship) Sonny Bradley- Plymouth Argyle (League Two) Jamie Devitt - Carlisle United (League Two) Will Atkinson - Southend United (League One) Mark Cullen - Blackpool (league Two) Tom Cairney - Fulham (Championship) Nicky Featherstone - Hartlepool United (League Two) Dougie Wilson - Dungannon Swifts F.C. (Northern Ireland Premiership)
Well, that was a ****e comment. Liam Cooper is the current captain of Leeds. He's doing really well. I'm surprised Bradley hasn't done better, always thought he looked a good prospect.
The likes of Olley Bowen Tymon Edwards Batty Mannion are "potentially" better than anything we've had in a long long time. Apart from TC who is ace.
Cooper is a good player. Playing in the Championship. However. Monk doesn't seem to like him and he is now a bench player and by some accounts Cooper may be forced to leave.
