Think my maths is right in saying, that on the basis that Preston and Swindon play each other (Both cant get maximum points) that 12 more points would guarantee promotion with 15 required for champions.
If we avoid defeat against Swindon we need 10 points from 6 games to guarantee promotion assuming we maintain a better goal difference If we avoid defeat against Preston we need 11points from 6 games to guarantee being champions assuming we maintain a better goal difference It's such fun doing these calculations as we know that neither Swindon nor Preston will win all their games . We are promoted already the question is will we be champions
Smh post does assume all teams win all games.. the intrigue is in knowing that teams play each other and the end result is not so simple there is 4 games between the top 4 and therein is the key!
Based it on the fact that we need 14 at present to go up. If Preston win v Swindon- its 11 If Preston lose to Swindon its then 12, (we need 15 at present to see off Preston) If a draw, its still 12 as Swindon could then get 2 points less
Current Position: There are now 6 games to go - ignoring goal difference this is the number of points City need to guarantee certain things (I have put in brackets the team that impacts on that points total): To be Champions - 14 points (Preston who have an extra game to play) To go Up - 13 points (Swindon who have 3 extra games to play) 3rd Place - 9 points (MK Dons who have 2 extra games to play) 4th Place - 0 point - Objective Achieved 5th Place - 0 point - Objective Achieved Make the Play-Offs - 0 point - Objective Achieved Of course this assumes that our opponents will win every game they play (which is impossible given they will play each other). Key fixtures among Top 4: Swindon v MK Dons 4 April Bristol City v Swindon 7 April Preston v Bristol City 11 April Preston v Swindon 25 April
Current Position updated after Swindon's drubbing by MK Dons: There are now 6 games to go - ignoring goal difference this is the number of points City need to guarantee certain things (I have put in brackets the team that impacts on that points total): To be Champions - 14 points (Preston who have an extra game to play) To go Up - 10 points (Swindon who have 2 extra games to play) 3rd Place - 9 points (MK Dons who have an extra game to play) 4th Place - 0 point - Objective Achieved 5th Place - 0 point - Objective Achieved Make the Play-Offs - 0 point - Objective Achieved Of course this assumes that our opponents will win every game they play (which is impossible given they will play each other). Key fixtures among Top 4: Swindon v MK Dons 4 April Bristol City v Swindon 7 April Preston v Bristol City 11 April Preston v Swindon 25 April 3 home wins would secure promotion
Also a fairly tough game for PNE tomorrow at Bradford...could do with a home win or a draw but we shouldn't be relying on other results helping us...!
I have often said we "need so and so to.. " and there has been over the seasons a certain few who have said we just need to keep on winning, then later "innocently" reversed that opinion and said things like " hopefully...we need...etc" such and such to beat so and so or get a draw! SO we do need other teams to get results for us, coming back from Heathrow quite a few on 606 radio said just that... yes we can keep on winning but no team has ever won 46 match's or 38 or... our danger was 2 teams PNE and Swindon, MKD ( beating Swindon) now have diluted the threat to PNE and a lesser degree them and Swindon. A Bradford win would be a tremendous boost for CITY Swindon MKD the reality is To be Champions - 14 points (Preston who have an extra game to play) 14 11 8 To go Up - 10 points (Swindon who have 2 extra games to play) 10 7 4 3rd Place - 9 points (MK Dons who have an extra game to play) 9 and assuming we win all Smh 's chart shows all teams attaining max which only MKD CAN DO without affecting the other 3 SoO YES lets get back to winning and hope other results go our way!
