Beardsley still However Currently I'm at a loss Probably take Aarons or Armstrong Aarons will rule this season if he stays fit
Our team is worse and that is surely clear. The loss of Townsend is huge and Gini was our only other class player. However, our back 5 is stronger both as regards the first team and the squad. If we want to have a shot at promotion is would need to be built around a solid defence and I am confident with Lascelles, Mbemba, etc that part of our team will be the best it has been for a few years. We've held onto our solid midfielders and they'll put in a shift but our team massively lacks spark. Where are the goals coming from? We NEED an AM and a striker who can combine to score regular goals or else I fear we will have a frustrating season watching our team. We have alot of players who 'might' come good - Perez, Mitro, Thauvin, Aarons, Armstrong, Gouffran - but even if they do, and it's a big if, how many would then be good enough for the Premiership? I think Shelvey, Ritchie and Tiote (if he stays) will impress.
Both if Klopp gets him playing to his potential. If he stays as he was for us, be prepared for a very frustrating season.
Yep he will do well in a better team Our fans forget without him would have been down by Christmas Also if you consider we paid half the price tag for Dwight Gayle well....
Gini. Imo best summed up as a player that flattered to deceive. Started off well enough, but, by mid season, anonymous and spineless for much of the time, and that was just at SJP. Away from home a liability at best.
I think it will be good for both. I suspect Wijnaldum will do very well in a more successful team. I think Klopp will give him more freedom to play his own game, and not being in a struggling team will cancel out some of the negatives when he disappears from games. We couldn't afford that last year. You will have more scope to absorb that. For us, it's a good deal when a lot of people were laughing at the idea that we would get anywhere close to what we paid, let alone making a handsome profit.
Does seem very mixed views from you guys. Looks like no one is doubting his quality when on form though, just his consistency and maybe mentality, but fact he was captain at PSV before he joined you guys would suggest that he is strong minded?
The Premier League is littered with good foreign imports who had poor or mixed first seasons in the PL. We took the pain and you'll take the gain.
Would be a nice change, normally we buy players who have a great first season in Prem (normally from Saints!) and then they have their poor and mixed season with us!
He was one of our better players but he didn't show it enough. Other players might not of been as good but at least they tried, a lot can be forgiven if you put some effort and play like you care. I'd of loved to of kept Wijnaldum. I would like Sissoko to of played the way he can play but he is lazy and lacks heart. I'd sooner see someone with less talent bust a gut for the shirt than a lazy git who you know can do it if they feel like it. In an ideal world you would have talented players who gave there all but they belong at the top clubs not here!
I disagree I don't think it was s lack of effort there's many psychological reasons behind poor games and also effort won't get you anywhere if you aren't good enough. He's just another player to add to a Iist our fans deemed unfit to wear the shirt that will go on to bigger things.
Or one to add to the list of those who have gone where they believe the grass is greener and have been found out (the road to Liverpool is peppered with them). Only time will tell. Also, cheer up mate, it's not that bad.
