Sky are now reporting that NUFC have set a transfer fee for the services of Moussa Sissoko at £35m. I've heard that figure mentioned before. Some are saying it's tactical to get Jordan Ibe + a decent wedge out of LFC. Do you want to see him stay or go if we were to get, realistically £25m+ for him? There's a canny few on Twitter who actually want him to stay so I thought it would be interesting to suss out your collective view here. Personally I'd carry him on my back for £20m to any location in the UK.
For me, it all depends on what Rafa wants and how much he thinks he can get out of him. If Rafa can get the 'good' Sissoko playing at least 80% of the time then I'd be happy for him to stay. If not then I doubt Rafa would want him anyway.
With the fan base almost certainly. The club will be a lot more pragmatic. The club isn't run by fans, but by a manager on a project and an owner wanting the club to be as valuable as possible. The club will do what they think will be best for that end, and the fans' views won't come into it. If they think he would help the club they will want him to stay, or go for a fee stupid enough that it allows us to replace him AND add to the the squad. Fans are fickle. If he does perform (and based on the past that would be a massive if) then we would soon forget the bad times. We've forgiven **** players before who turned it around.
I think this is RAFA probably putting down a marker to say to players.... 'if you try to agitate for a move.... we will only consider it on OUR terms'. He (RAFA) is making it very difficult and rightly so. A mixed view on the MS situation thus far.
I can't stop laughing at 35m. If we got half that we have absolutely robbed some fecker. Anything above 10m is scandalous in terms of his actual ability/willingness to deliver what ability he has. One thing for sure is we will definitely be well in credit on this one. Some idiotic club will pay 20m.
I think this is a case of the club knowing he is not worth anything like that, but telling buyers that this is what it will cost them to make Rafa adjust his plans (plus a message to the player himself).
If he stays, bangs in a few goals at the start of the season and keeps playing to a good consistent standard people will forget a lot of the previous. Your only as good as your last game in football...
Blatantly an unachievable figure they've slapped on him to whack up the eventual price, like when Souness said he'd only consider a bid of £20m for Jenas and he went for £7m or something. I think if they got a bid of £20m they'd snap the buyers hand off...I'd still like to see the prick forced to stay at the club and made to play in the reserves, a season playing leek town and whitley bay or whoever would be and fitting punishment for not giving a **** for 95% or the season then playing like his life depends on it for France.
If the price is £35m I would suspect it's because there is interest from a huge club. And by huge club, I don't mean Liverpool.
The fact that he can play when he wants to is a bit of a kick in the nuts considering his performances for us, cash in and let's move on.
This is our best opportunity to cash in. The club knows he will be sold to some twits with loads of TV money to spunk so may as well chance our hand.
We could do with the Sissoko that played for France this Tournament in our CM. A big strong box to box midfielder who can carry the ball, run at pace and be a threat. If someone Is going to buy him it'll be a gamble, he's 26 and entering his prime years, he should be at his most consistent and can't use the excuse of being 21 and a young player. If someone can get him playing that level consistency then 25-30m will look a good deal.
