I remember being down there for the queens silver jubilee before pedestrianisation I actually had a chat with The Queen believe it or not
The demolition people are supposed to be on there to finish clearing the site about now, I've no idea when they'll actually start the new build.
The new building was originally due to start around now from what i understood in the paper. The new building near the pist office depot on Citadel parks gone quiet
It's definitely behind schedule, the demolition was supposed to be finished by the end of October, also the proposed new hotel seems to have been removed from the 'new openings' section of the Radisson Blu website, so I'm not convinced it will happen at all. I don't know anything about the St Marks St one.
Whilst on the theme of urban redevelopment, the much talked about Northern Powerhouse has relocated to London. http://www.newstatesman.com/politic...ed-northern-powerhouse-theyve-moved-it-london Don't get into politics.
Mmm... Stantons hotcakes. Just butter on Wednesday, bacon on payday, egg the rest of the week. Whichever, you always ended up with something dribbling down your chin. There were some formidable "waitresses" in there. (no connection implied to the above) My first recollection of the term "patty slappers" although I don't recall any pattys. Even better (imo) hotcakes though were from Moore's bakery down Egton St. Straight out the oven with a half inch slice of butter left to melt in it's own time. My other blurred recollections of this bakery involve flooding, rat's and cockroaches and fire. Strange these things didn't seem to impact on customer perception in the least at the time. I also remember a pre-pubescent "show me yours, I'l show you mine" session among the piles of empty flour sacks. Jackson's on Spring bank West weren't bad either. Especially at 4 in the morning. There was often quite a gathering from all over town.

It looks like the pop-up farm is going ahead, but now on derelict land next to The Deep (I assume on one side of Tower Street)... please log in to view this image http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Reve...rm-fruit-veg/story-28689997-detail/story.html
I think they'll clear the site, than nothing will happen, the Radisson Blu Hotel is no longer showing as a new opening on their website and it shows all new hotel openings to 2018.
