The queues outside Wimbledon are the longest they've ever seen, by 8.30 this morning they were telling people at the end of the queue the earliest they would get in would be 5.00pm. Who's going to win? I'm going Djokovic to beat Murray in the final and Serena Williams to win the womens. Obviously the womens isn't as good as the mens...
Djokovic is a class above the mens, same with Serena and the women. The womens standard is below the mens like it is all sports but they do play better than children
I can't see passed Djokovic to win, though Murray if he maintains his form might have a chance. Djokovic in the early rounds could be where there is an upset, as he won't be match ready, his last competitive match was the loss in the French open final.
Have they got our turnstiles? Obviously if everyone just arrived a week earlier they could have been inside in plenty of time. I don't mind Wimbledon but it irritates me how the type of people who go on about not liking sport all year and tut when you mention football suddenly go mental for Wimbledon every July.
People with tickets can walk straight in, the people queuing(many overnight) are people without tickets. I got offered a pair of centre court tickets for today, £600 for an opening day match is too rich for my liking.
The Djokovic 'cheat' claims might come to a head during the next fortnight. 'Cheating' in the sense that Becker has apparently been giving him esoteric signals during games, according to some claims.
It will be interesting to see if this does start growing arms and legs, and it could be a distraction if the media keep on about it at press conferences.
The place is full of hooray Henry's and those who are there as part of the social calendar (ie. they don't give a damn about the tennis). I went on opening day last year. Living in southfields made it easy to attend, although I had to wait for my friend to arrive on the first tube from earl's court. Think we were about 2500 in the queue and I got a seat on the front row of court 18 - he being Chinese disappeared off to see a Chinese player (we got in about the same time as they open the courts - 10ish?). The lucky punters who are camping overnight tonight will get serenaded by my old choir from 8:30pm. The not getting inside bit is about capacity. They only have so many ground passes and most people won't leave until evening. The 5pm time may be optimistic or pessimistic. It's pretty cheap if you go in then and, if you're lucky, you can grab a centre court ticket from a hooray who's leaving for the day.
Wimbledon can **** right off as far as I'm concerned. Full of middle aged, Home Counties silly bints drinking Pimms and eating strawberries whilst cheering on that miserable Scottish tit despite the fact he probably hates them and everything they stand for and not just because they're English. John Inverdale and Sue Barker can **** off as well. It's everything wrong with society. Everything. I did a rant like this last year and I think the year before that as well. Why? Because it's ****e and it's for ****s. Cliff ****ing Richards. Need I say more? Do I ****ers like. I know it's Richard and not Richards as well, I just like saying Richards for some reason. The bloke who lived behind me at my old house had a tennis court and we fell out because his ****ing trees encroached my back garden and he wouldn't cut them back. He loved tennis and had Wimbledon parties with his landed gentry chums. Not once did I get an invite. I rest my case.
I've watched pretty much every one of Murray's matches at Rolland Garros and Queens and he's playing some great tennis. Djokovic however is just on a slightly higher level to the others and unless he has a bad day he shouldn't be beaten by anybody. I reckon Djokovic will beat Murray in the final, would love to see Andy win again though.
