I decided not to renew my membership this season but I have been amazed by the number of people that I have spoken to who (claim to) have done the same. It's getting quite spooky because I can hardly find anyone who has continued their membership. I was wondering whether that's just coincidence or whether anyone else was finding the same? Does anyone have any inside information on the number of memberships cancelled?
I was going to renew mine , but I've just read on other threads we should hold out for 20m for Clucas , so think that's me done with football for a while
Five of us have all renewed and four at work have plus a neighbour with his partner have so I won't be on my own.
I have been in exile for the last couple of seasons. But, as it was affecting the social life, with mates drifting off you only really see on a weekend, we all decided to join this godforsaken scheme for the sake of beer, City and our longer term sanity. (none of us were existing members). I downloaded the brochure, there was no form to fill in. I rang the club, and was passed through to three different telephone numbers/departments. Eventually I spoke to a pleasant enough lad who sounded about 16. I was told, and I quote...."We don't know what the crack is yet with the new membership scheme, so I'll take your name and number and put it on my list, and give you a ring when we know what's going on." That was about two weeks ago and heard nothing since.
I actually think this membership scheme is ok now they've increased the number of zone 1 blocks and scrapped zone 4, £21 a month is perfectly acceptable, there's no joining up fee for new members so It only works out at £10.95 per game ffs even for a child that's good value.
I've been too lazy to cancel so I suppose that counts I'm probably still a member of several gyms I never go to too. Bloody membership schemes
Been in exile for past 2 seasons with my brother on principle (combination of being evicted from WSU and concessions), taking in only the occasional game when my brother visits from darn-sarf. We've really missed the match day experience (even though he generally only makes 4-5 home games a season plus London aways) so went through a hand-wringing process with him and concluded that, rightly or wrongly, we'll join the membership scheme this season. The point of this is that I rang the club and enquired about seat availability in West stand to be told that the new scheme starts on 1st July so the club are busy processing all of the cancellations before they can say which seats will be available. Sounded like there are lots of cancellations although I wonder how many of these will be PL 'tourists'.
