Started at West Ham & had several loans at Notts Co, Swindon, Dag & Red & Oxford before joining Oldham where it went tits up. He was sacked by them and tried to sue them too for it but later dropped the charges. He went to Colombia to get his head straight and played for América de Cali (whoever that is) but now returned to England to re-start his career. Massive gamble this. Do we need this sort of player? Is he better than Della-Verde or Dawson?
Trotman turned down the chance to train with Rovers according to the web site now might possibly bring in another defender
Cristian Montano comes across humble and very grateful for the chance Rovers have given him. To be honest, I expected someone with a bit of a chip on their shoulder with the wrong attitude like O'Toole. I expected Montano to be thinking he is better than us, use to be with a Prem side and got a bad record with what happened at Oldham. But I am pleasently surprised how humble he came across. Remember mind, charges that was put against him was dropped so wasnt found guilty of anything. Not your typical Forest Green player after all! He can play on either wing but mainly left side. Can also play in the middle too. We know DC like his players who can play in a number of positions so im sure DC is happy with this. I can see why DC has took this gamble and im not actually thinking this aint a gamble at all. He has bags of pace, loves 1 on 1 situations with defenders and he claims he has a good cross too. Just what we need. Seen this clip of him too (note, have your sound off as the music is terrible)
Will Puddy has now officially signed back on with us. DC hinted in his pre-season clip that he may get another keeper as well.
Will Puddy has become the final member of last season's promotion winning side to put pen to paper on a new contract. Manager Darrell Clarke was pleased to have tied the keeper to a new deal and said; "Will was very patient in waiting for his opportunity last season and pushed Steve Mildenhall all the way before securing a regular place in the side at the back end of the campaign and I’m pleased he has accepted the offer of a new contract.” Chairman Nick Higgs added; “Will was a very important and valued member of our promotion winning side last season and was a huge asset to the squad. I’m delighted he has signed a new contract that keeps him at the club and wish him every success for the new season.” Read more at http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...new-contract-2521563.aspx#D98OQIer3MRMX8xc.99
Ryan Clarke has signed and will be in the team for the 1st game of the season at the Mem! Because he has signed for Northampton! .
From what I've seen of Montano he is a very left-sided player with quick feet who doesn't think twice about running at defenders. I know Oldham rated him very highly before they sacked him. I actually think Oldham's decision to sack him was quite hypocritical given their attempts to sign Ched Evans this year. Montano's charges were dropped and Evans has a rape conviction so they must have some strange logic.
He looks decent enough going forward, but his crossing looks average at best. Hope he is a good success for us
What I have liked and what I think Brown will like is in that clip, a fair few amount of times Montano came deep into the LB position while the LB was pushing forward in the LW position. Brown will like this as allows him to get forward knowing Montano is back behind him.
