We don't always get what we want though and these stars need to learn that.

He isn't a player Cortese promised the world to tho. I was worried about Prowse going as he had a buy out fee in the contract Cortese gave him. But his new one doesn't have one.

I think we should just have one stickied thread titled 'Players leaving' so we can keep all of it together away from incoming rumours and then everyone who still thinks Clyne & Morgan might stay can all meltdown together in one thread

 

Not taking those comments too seriously, but I would be very disappointed if Victor left.

 

I am so proud of the team we would have if nobody had left over the last 5+ years. It seems to me that almost 50% of the time any big English name does anything good football-wise I can say to everyone around me - who are oblivious to Saints - "yeah they started with us".
Now we are doing it with talent we buy, like Clyne, Morgan, and now big Vic.
I know it means we will struggle to break into the top 4, and I would love them to stay, but every time we sell we seem to get double what we spend replacing them (and it's exponential for the acadamy boys). And I would rather this than be almost any other PL non-top 4 team (I'm thinking, Stoke, West Brom, Sunderland, Hull etc - who never produce any talent, ever) who have absolutley nothing to be proud of.
We're not just a football team, we are Southampton
And it's this that I still feel is what twat beard, Shaw, Chambers and Lovren - and those who went before like Walcott and Oxo cube (maybe not Bale because he has just done so well) - will miss the most.
I bet even SRL misses it, poor Rickie...

If Vic wants to go, let him go - he is by definition worth at least £24m (as we paid 12)

Good on Vic for retracting/denying this statement.

It does make you think though - if all these players stopped for a moment and decided to stay at Southampton, we'd be a top four club, I have no doubt - which is what they all seem to say they want to leave for...

(Which kinda goes to show, it's all about £).

 

Very well said. But IMO the tide is starting to turn. Some can see Saints are moving in the right direction. Some will be happy with Europa in the short term. Some are looking at Lovren, Lallana, Lambert, Shaw and Chambers and saying... ....WTF.
