Wes Burns is set to leave Bristol City

Wes Burns is set to leave Bristol City and join another Football League club on a permanent basis.

A product of City's Academy set-up, the Wales under-21 international forward, recently returned from a loan spell at Scottish Premier League outfit Aberdeen.

But there is little or no prospect of him breaking into City's Championship squad and head coach Lee Johnson has decided to let him leave to further his own career.

City have agreed a fee with an unnamed club and Burns' departure is expected to be confirmed before the weekend.

Johnson said: "It is time for Wes to get his own identity and play first team football for one club rather than keep going out on loan.

"We feel this is the right time for him to move on. Wes is a fantastic lad and a popular member of the squad, and we wish him all the best."

I think Fleetwood have got themselves a player of real promise.
Given a season or two he could set the division alight. Then he could go from strength to strength
