there is a video on the bbc website of spectacular goals from the women's world cup. I thought it was from the most recent but it goes back as far as 1991......its still under 2 minutes long
I've got my ticket for the opening game, looking forward to the tournament. Anyone else going to any games? Having watched Japan last year v Canada I think Japan will win this World Cup,
The US is the favorite with Germany and Brazil being 2nd and 3rd. I think I will go with the US, after losing in the final last time I expect them to take it this time.
Over 52k sold for the opening ceremony, near sell out. Weather 26C going to be a great 2 games anyone going to be watching it?
I'd rather gouge my own eyeballs out with a **** encrusted spoon than watch a womans football match ....... just saying like.
Everyone can have there own opinion but what's not to like! 26C sunshine, plenty of beer, some sexy women on show and plenty others watching! Did you go watch city When we was in League 2? As some of the women I've seen play would get into that team!
League 2? I'm 61, not 31 - you want to compare **** (and some very good) City Teams I can probably beat you hands down Calgary.
If we are going back to them days it would be league 4! I'm sure we have had some excelant players in the lower leagues but we have had plenty of **** ones, I think the standard of women's football over the last 10 years has greatly improved and there are a few players that could play league football. Maybe you should watch a few games during the World Cup you may be surprised!
I don't get this either. The standard of football shouldn't matter. In terms of the action on the pitch, watching a Humber Premier League game is no less entertaining than a PL one in my opinion. Obviously the atmosphere and the fact it's not City means it's not as good overall, but not because of the standard.
Unless it's your own team, I don't see much point in watching poor quality football. Just as I wouldn't consider watching a **** band, just because my favourite band didn't have a gig on.
It's not really the standard I have a problem with, it's football, it's not for women - bowls, croquet, curling (involves sweeping) games all far more suitable for the ladies.
Would it be different if it was higher quality football though? I don't think it's that obvious most of the time. If anything the big difference is that at higher levels the game is more slow and defences are better organised which makes it boring.
I'm definitely hoping to get to one or more of the games in Vancouver. Canada is the favourite to win its group and the US is always a strong contender. Always enjoy watching the women play...the games are fast and open as we're seeing in the Canada v China match which I'm watching now.
Ok not the best advert for women's Football but a win for Canada was important Rooting for Ned now but Nzl looking good
Was it just me thought the ref got the penalty right, the Chinese were fouling all night with impunity, deserved to get a harsh pen at the end. I really like the pink-haired Canadian, she has a great touch, scored against England, names gone out of my head for some reason
Norway v Thailand on the red button at 6, Norway won the World Cup back in 1995, will be interesting to see what sort of team Thailand put out, have no knowledge of their womens football at all
Yes that is correct, it's was a great goal she scored for England and if it was scored by a man they would be showing it for weeks on TV! I agree the Chinese where a dirty team, not sure how there was not more cards in the game, saying that the Canadian girl deserved hers. I think I enjoyed the 2nd game better I managed to move seats for this game as a fair few people had left and was sat near where the NZ girls where warming up, some very good looking girls $60 to see two games, great value for money.
