Watched the Cardiff v Man C cup game this afternoon and was a bit put out at the comments on the free kick goal scored by De Bruyne. He apparently had the brilliance to kick the ball along the floor under the wall. It was even described as brilliant. Now correct me if I am wrong but didn't a certain Argyle player back in the day score loads of goals like that. Wotton was a master at giving it loads of wellie along the ground. Anyone would think it's just been invented.

Seems strange that round 4 Cup games have been treated differently.....only a few being covered by VAR and others not....doesn't seem very even handed.

Sixtieth anniversary today of the Munich Air Disaster.....I was a teenager at the time...my mate and I had gone to Highbury the previous Saturday and saw Man U beat Arsenal 5-4....great game.....the following Wednesday my mum came and woke me up late afternoon for me to get up for night shift....and told me their plane had crashed....hard as a teenager to comprehend at the time what that meant, and over the next few days the horror of what had happened slowly unfolded....having seen them in the flesh days before really introduced me to the frailties of life...I've never forgot that time.

It doesn't mean much to me to be honest. I was 8 at the time and we didn't even have a tele to see any news on. Like all things though the myth of greatness is built on the sadness of the occasion. A load of young lives snuffed out for nothing much. Nobody will ever know what that team may have achieved so the myth is built around assumption rather than anything else. They may have carried all before them or won nothing. All the same it was a sad day for Manchester.

    Swansea 8 - 1 Notts County

Oh dear!!! On a freezing cold Tuesday night and travelling as well to see that scoreline at the end. Journey home a real treat I've no doubt. Mahoosive improvement on the first game from Swansea. I was watching and then gave up at 4 -1 to watch something else inbetween. Turned back on and it was 7 - 1. I don't like games that are over before they start as it doesn't make for much interesting viewing.

Watched the highlights of ...Rochdale...1-0...Millwall....I've seen better local council Rec pitches than what this game was played on....looked more like they had been preparing the pitch for some summer crop.

Watched the Wigan v Man City game this evening and boy what an upset. I have to say that Wigan are probably head and shoulders better than any other side in our division and have to say also that tonight they were very good. I don't however go much on their fans who I tend to find are a tad up their own jacksey. They will be totally intollerable after tonight. For me it was more facinating to watch than exciting tonight. There is no doubt in my mind the Referee changed the game with his decision with the Red. Personally I don't think it was anywhere near a red card. I'm not even sure it was a booking For me he actually won the ball in a strong tackle but of course tackling isn't allowed now is it.

If this had been a boxing match Paul Cook would have thrown the towel in to save Wigan from anymore of a thrashing.

    BBC Stats
Wigan had 17% of possession to Man C having 83%.
    Wigan 4 shots on goal..................Man C had 29 shots.
Wigan 2 shots on target................Man C had 5 on target.
Wigan had zero corners................Man C had 15 corners.
    Wigan committed 11 fouls.............Man C committed 6 fouls.

Ok Man C played half the game with 10 men.....but with stats like that they should of still won.

    Wigan's team cost £810,000...............Man C team cost £357.8 Million.

No team is worth £357.8 million and Wigan proved it last night.

If your stats are from the beeb match stuff then the possession thing is only the last section of the match they covered. It is not for the whole of the game as I keep telling people. No doubt their possession was high but it may not have been that high. As for shots well what a load of crap that was for Man City then. If they could only get 5 on target out of 29 then how poor is that. Wigan got a bigger percentage on target. If you are in a boxing match it is the number of punches you contact with not the number you throw. It only took one of their attempts to get the scoreline they did so no excuses from Man City on that score. I thought Man City were fairly poor from the start. They had the ball but their final ball in the final third was crap. No towel required from Cook as his side were not being hit.

Can't believe I'm currently watching curling online. GB Men in playoff against Swis. Is there any point to this game? Seems to me that whoever has the last stone wins the end and it's just a case of do they get one, two, three or four. Mostly it seems only one or two if lucky.

You could query why people play golf.....just putting a little ball into a hole......been said before.....a good walk spoilt.

PS.....The reason for curling is.....something that the Scots are best at in the UK.

Probably correct, but it is one of only a few Olympic sports that gets me really involved. Bobsleigh, luge , and speed skating are the others. Surely it is all about who is fastest, closest or highest- not into all this artistic impression stuff,

I stayed up till well after 2pm in the end and for what exactly................the Swis got a five, not a four or three but a bleddy five right at the death and I new it was all over. Defeat from a winning position. I thought it's Argyle mark II. I gave up at that point and went to bed. It does get you hooked somehow though. I'm not kean on the points for somebody else's opinion as that is just arbitrary somehow. Gymnastics, Diving and the like depends often on who you are rather than what you have just done competition wise.

You all know how much I just admire that wonderful Mr Trump bloke from the good ole US of A. I thought the thick plonker couldn't get any more stupid but now I think he has Trumped himself. So this kid goes into a school and shoots a load of other kids and stuff. Trump has the perfect solution for it not happening again. Does he ban guns.........no not on your life. The solution is to allow guns into the schools and........................roll on drums.....................arm the teachers so they can shoot anyone who looks suspicious in future. The bloke is a fecking moron. How the hell did he ever get voted in for christ sake.

I also find it rich that he is branding the deputy who didn't confront the gunman as a coward. This is the bloke who will never have to confront anyone himself ever and when he goes out he has hundreds of security guards to look after him. I wonder just how brave he would be if somebody turned up in his frontroom with a gun. Ok the guard should have maybe done more but to call him a coward in his speech is just wrong.

I doubt if the guard had an assault rifle....probably just a side arm....he would have just of been another victim.

Arming teachers would sort out unruly classrooms though.

Two cartoons got me chuckling today.

1.....Medieval battle scene.....attacking army with a huge battering ram racing flat out towards castle doors....one attacking soldier standing by castle doors....picks up a rock and finds a bunch of keys under it....holds up keys and shouts out....hang on a minute.

2.....Street newspaper vendor with two advertising boards next to him....one says...Plastic danger in oceans......second says...Trump ' give fish guns'.

Also today....Daily Mirror sports pages have a full page article on Argyle turning their season around.
