Scientists have discovered a 12 mile ‘lake’ of liquid water under an ice cap on one of the poles of Mars. Could be a big leap forward in determining whether life ever existed, or posssibly still exists on Mars.
****ing hell these scientists are well behind, my local newsagents already has Mars chocolate milk! please log in to view this image
Theyve known of water on Mars for ages...we won't get closer to if there is life on other planets though because I don't see the authorities ever admitting to it. That's the problem..just giving the masses little teasers to keep them into thinking its a slow progress but one they are trying hard to figure out. Roswell happened
See I find it all bizarre. The likelihood is god is an alien and ancient races perhaps saw an alien as some kind of deity.
Also. why did God choose to send his son to our paltry little planet to save our souls out of the billions and billions of other planets in the Universe?
I always find people who don't believe in God will happily believe in something else however bizarre the alternative might sound because it's the only reason that might sit right with them. can only see people who didn't believe in God taking other entities as Gods due to what their logic allowed them to believe. I honestly think until the scientists of this world can conquer the 85% of the Unknown Seas and the creatures within it, they need to stop making up tales that fit the limited human mind when it comes to the vast and endless universe
Religion and the belief of creationism itself was born out of humans trying to make sense of the nature around them. They had no understanding that the World was a spherical piece of rock circling a star in a galaxy and that there were billions of other galaxies. If humans had all that understanding and knowledge thousands of years ago the writers of the scriptures would've been laughed at. Humans have always wanted the understand why we are here and every age of man has had their own beliefs, what makes one religion the ultimate truth over all of man's development in time?. This will be my only comment on the subject, take or leave what you want from it...
Unfortunately the discovery of water on Mars means nothing, if its not habitable to humans. We'd never be able to conduct further exploration even if there were the chance of life. On a side note, who is watching the lunar eclipse on Friday/Saturday.
I think the discovery is more about determining whether there was ever life on Mars, or whether microbial life still exists. The applications of that, if we discover that different types of organisms live in alien landscapes, could have all sorts of uses for life on Earth. I don't think it's necessarily about making Mars habitable for Humans, although the discovery of water would make establishing a base there more feasible.
Didn't it say in Genesis God created earth in six days? Clearly he made aliens on his day off. Thanks for clearing that one up.
This is broadly my view too, although I think we are naive to think that we are at the pinnacle of understanding. There's probably more we don't know about the cosmos that we do. In fact I think there are some things that we cannot even conceive of currently that are yet to be discovered and understood. A bit like trying to explain Broadband to Ghengis Khan ....
