After a full day of watching the transfer deadline day I've got to say I've been more than underwhelmed. Quite a few teams have been busy and I've watched them with quite a bit of envy. But that said...I only think Villa as a rival have done really good work today. Bentner isn't your twenty a season man. Hopefully he's going to be the foil for Gyan to be that for us. Get Sess over out on the left where he looks dangerous and Bob's Your Mother's Brother. The window is shut. Hopefully we've got the right one in....Let's Get Behind The Team. FTM
Appalling pun, but agree with what you say. The best thing about this is that playing Bentner with Gyan means Sess can play just behind them which I think is where he's best. Generally underwhelmed with the last-minute nature of it all though.
If you look at the transfer window as a whole rather than just the last day activity, i think we have been one of the busiest teams in the premiership..Personally, I'm delighted with the signing of Bendtner, but a bit disappointed to see Anton go..
Personally i believe Bendtner will turn out to be a good signing (hopefull!) and we've had a lucky escape with Crouch. Ok Crouch has a pretty good record when it comes to his England stats, but his league stats I would imagine isn't that good. He never seems to stop at 1 particular club for any great length of time and he's played for quite a few now. £12 million to Stoke really? and someone who is the wrong side of 30.As I watched sky sports all day along with millions of others, it kept saying his deal was all about what he could get out of it money wise (not exact words but that what it seems to be pointing at) image rights etc never once did he or his agent say " I just want to play " Ok Bendtner wasn't everyones first choice but he has international, champions league experience, scored at those levels and played for arguably one of the best teams in europe and he'll want to prove himself, remember Benjani a couple of seasons ago? I think it shows how far we have come that he was wanting it sounds like to play for us and further more knows Bruce quite well. As long as he doesn't play him left wing I think we have a cracker, and lets face it its on loan, if no good hand him back, lost nothing. If it were Crouch (unless his missus came on at half time at the SOL every other week) we probabaly would have wasted £12 million Every team is after the magic "20 goal a season man" which are few and far between. I would like to finish though by saying Wayne Bridge was available a proper left full back, and also Guy Demel ended up at West Ham (we were linked with him a season or 2 ago) either or both I would have been happy with. So let Bruce and the team now go out there and show there worth.
this, but some people won't be happy until we sign messi, ronaldo etc. Great signing imo he'll get you more goals than Crouch, i just hope there's a view to a permanant with this loan deal. Well done SAFC
I would have felt very flat if I was reading we had paid 12 mil for Crouch who joined us because he had no other options.
"rokereconomic" sadly not, if I were I would have been on here telling you all I tried everything in my power to bring in AJ. But with the sigining of NB the team does look a lot stronger when Gordon and Turner get back to full fitness. Gordon Bardo Brown Turner O'Shea Larsson Vaughan Gardener Sess Gyan Bendtner Not a bad looking line up :0)
