More accurately Connolly has been at a club on 4 occasions (5 actually) when that club has been promoted to the Premier League. In 3 of those seasons he mustered the grand total of 16 games out of a possible 138. Whoever he has been promoted with have then sacked him off, or if that's not been doable, simply not played him, at the higher level. Bab.
An update on the derby spygate story, apparently he was caught with binoculars, a pair of pliers and a change of clothes.... what the **** was the binoculars for ?????
Why give him to the police they should have just kicked the ****er in and buried him. Shouldn’t have been there so nobody would have known.
Sure that it's not Stewart Lee? Could we do with a bit more of the old metropolitan liberal elite fannying around ineffectively in centre mid?
If we do get Connolly then I think it is not a bad signing tbh. Okay he maybe isn't the most gifted of players, but as a potential back up defender we could do a lot worse and his experience of being promoted with 4 different teams can only be a positive factor on the squad both on and off the field. It puts more pressure on our current defenders not to get complacent and lets face it, the situation at the club means we were never going to get a player who is going to rip up any trees but we have got a player who could certainly be a positive for the squad and club.
Connolly at his best is as gifted a centre half your going to get by Championship standards. Hes a footballing centre back who is good with the ball at his feet. But is prone to a mistake hence why hes played at the level he has. Past player of the season for us but was hardly involved last year. Great servant for us but his best days have gone. He wont let you down if the aim is mid table consolidation which is where you seem to be.
Cheers Hilts Mid table consolidation is as much as I’m hoping for personally, although we wouldn’t be football fans if we didn’t feel the urge to look up occasionally too, particularly after the run we’re on
Bowen subbed with 5 mins to go. Double clap to all 4 stands on his way off the field. Last home match in this window. Looked like a goodbye to me. He was having a running feud with their number 6 all the second half though and they were getting a bit physical.
With the form we're in and the spirit in the dressing room right now there's no way this guys getting into the first 11. Not sure why he'd go from warming Cardiff's bench to ours. Our owners are missing a trick here, the first signing should have been an inspiring one to show some real intent, not a backup centre back.
Nige nailed it though, it only takes one injury and we're a bit sticky. Mazuch is great, but he just isn't fit often enough and will no doubt again be injured before May. Burke has already been injured once this season. McKenzie and Ritson aren't ready for sustained Championship appearances and McDonald isn't fit until mid March at the earliest. I think it's a very sensible move, especially given his C.V. at this level.
Flip it round and why sign someone who would drop straight into the starting 11 and potentially mess up the unity and rhytham we have as a team... Our first 11 isn't an issue, it's our depth that we lack.
They need to be an improvement or as good as our first eleven or it’s not worth signing them? There’s no sentiment here! If we can get someone better then Campbell or Martin? Then they’re straight in for me.
