Good piece in HDM, Henriksen empathising and encouraging Stewart. I can't believe the difference in him, unrecognisable from earlier in season, I'm sure most would agree that he has to be one of the first on the team sheet at present, and undeniable that we have been in better form and defensively better with Stewart in the team. I don't know what's changed for him, he has always had the skill, can only be mentality and confidence? Good on him, long may it continue. Markus Henriksen has praised the resilience and mental strength shown by Kevin Stewart. 25-year-old Stewart has been in excellent form at the heart of the Tigers’ midfield in recent weeks and is currently enjoying his longest run in the side since arriving at the Club in the summer of 2017. The former Liverpool man has started in each of the last five league games – which has seen Nigel Adkins’ side register five successive wins – with his impressive contribution to the team resulting in lavish praise from club captain Henriksen. “I’m very pleased for Kevin – he’s been brilliant of late,” he said. “I know first hand how tough it has been him at times. I can compare myself to him a little bit with how my first 18 months at the Club went. It really is tough. “But the way he’s bounced back with the performances he is currently producing shows just how mentally strong Kevin is. “The way he has come through this tough period is fantastic. I think the good ones come through it, like Kev has. It just goes to show how much of a good player he is and the character he has. “I’ve always had faith in him though. I’ve seen him on the training pitch day in, day out. He always trains well, runs well and is very, very good in his defensive shape. “What is great to see now is that he’s showing much more confidence on the ball in games. Not only is he breaking up play to stop the opposition, he’s also contributing to the team going forward as well. “It’s good to have players like him – and Dan Batty as well – but all credit to Kev for the way he has stepped up to show just how good a footballer he is. It’s been great to see and long may his excellent performances continue.”
Another indication of the togetherness and feel good factor that now exists in the squad. Well done Markus, you seem like captain material
I think it's the most dramatic turnaround I can remember seeing in a player. He was so, so poor for his first 17 months here, but when he came on at half time against Forest he looked a player all of a sudden, and he's never looked back. After Swansea I think it was, when Henriksen was injured so Stewart statted, Batty struggled a bit and Stewart was excellent. I think that's when he claimed the spot as his own. He couldn't make a tackle before, but really looks dominant now.
He's been going on about vegan mayonaisse on his Instagram. More vegan mayo to the squad! The secret behind his success. (Not sure how the hell mayo can be vegan, but more of it!)
It's one of those English euphemisms Febbs. It means Gentelmans relish without the little fishes. Ex. Oh my good you've just spaffed your mayo in my Mrs! Don't worry mate it's vegan. What your a Jaffa? Yes mate totally seedless. Nice one. You can have another go if you like this car park's open until 21:30. (Sorry my mind tends to go off on tangents....) (EDIT: BTW Great Article and sorry Tigress )
I saw a jar of vegan mayo in Jack Fultons the other day, me n Brenda at the till just shook our heads in disgust. Stewart probably goes in Fultons for it. Dirty bastard.
Total change of subject. Assuming you live in or near Stockholm, or did in the past, perhaps you can answer a question for me ? Back in '67, en route to working for an iron ore mining/mineral processing firm in northern Norway ( N of Trondheim), I was hitch-hiking through Stockholm and pitched my tent ( living on the cheap) underneath the grandstand of a Trotting Stadium somewhere in Bromma, just NW of Stockholm (probably was a suburb). It was pissing down with rain, so the overhang of the stadium grandstand was very handy. Is there still a trotting stadium in that location ? Forgot it's name, vaguely sounded like Valhalla or close to that ? Happy days - met a lovely lass on that trip.
Sounds like you're talking about Solvalla race track and yes its still there. Bromma is basically a suburb West of Stockholm and Solvalla is due North of Bromma.
Hey, fantastic ST...Solvalla it was ! Despite my age, my vague memory still works a bit. Thanks very much. I spent about 4 days in Stockholm & district that summer trip. Beautiful area. As was Nord Trondelag in Norway when I finally arrived there that summer. Just loved Scandinavia. Certain parts of Canada are very much like it visually (lakes, pines etc etc). Again, cheers.
