Adkins on injury news Obviously from the other day, we expect everyone to be fit from that. Henriksen will be suspended. No new players being added to it. Jordy being ill won’t be available. Dan Batty won’t make the game. We have options to deal with the midfield situation. 'Let's enjoy the rest of the season' We’re back at home again. The players are determined to continue home form and we’re looking to go and pick up another three points. There’s every chance Kamil will come back into the side. Jon Toral and Nouha Dicko will come into contention. Marshall has normally had the armband on when Henriksen hasn’t played. We’ve reached 50 points in the league table and we were tipped by many to get relegated. We’re in a position now where we can really enjoy the rest of the season. We’ve got three home games in the next four and our home form has been excellent and we have to give the supporters something to enjoy without the fear of the relegation battle. Adkins on the difference between home and away form Our confidence has grown at home and I think we’ve been more adventurous away from home and we’ve played against some very good sides. The other night we did well for periods of the game but the goals we conceded cost us the game. We kept a large crowd very quiet for long periods at a time and our pass completion rate was better than what it has been for most of the season. We play some expansive football at home and we have had some good results. Sometimes its fine margins. For example when you look through to the Nottingham Forest game, the linesman has give offside and it wasn’t, Forest’s goal could have come off the other side of the post. Adkins on this weekend It’s an exciting place to come and the atmosphere is always good. QPR still need more points to make sure they avoid the relegation battle. We had a cracking game at their place. We counter attacked so well in that game. Maybe that is the difference, we’ve been more expansive and maybe we need to sit deeper and counter attack. We need to get more points. It gives us an opportunity. The big objective was to make sure sustainability was achieved. Now we have to look forward to next season. I want the supporters to enjoy the remainder of the season. Adkins on his future We have to be winning all four of the next games. We have an opportunity to reflect now ans utilise the time. I may highlight decisions that can be made or not be made. I had a meeting with Lee Darnbrough, looking at a player we’re tracking. I’m just doing my job. Me and Andy Crosby are out of contract, fact. The club will do that n their own time. We’re just getting on with things. We’re looking at next season. I haven’t had talks about my future. I really enjoy it here and I try to engage with the supporters. 'Things will get sorted' I just want people to do well. At some stage there will be a parting, that’s what football is. Who knows what the possibility is of me still being head coach? We’re doing everything we can to do the right things. It’s business as usual. Things will get sorted. We have an opportunity to reflect on the season and an opportunity to get ahead of the game and prepare for next season. Adkins on the summer ahead and planning The finances will be cut accordingly. I’m the one who is speaking on behalf of the club. Parachute payments wont be here next season and we’ll cut the cloth accordingly. That’s the reality. I’m not a doom and gloom merchant. I think with every club the evolution of the squad is natural. There might be players who we would like to keep. There is nowhere you’ll get near the finances some clubs are looking for. It’ll be a challenge. We all love a challenge, though.
I like the bit where he says 'Parachute money wont be here next season' - ffs it hasn't been there the last two seasons because two incompetent businessmen have trousered it because they've ****ed up running the club
It's incredible how they're able to keep trotting out the "we can't keep spending this much money" line. It's been going on for so long now, that every player in the squad was signed after they started saying it, and completely stopped being competitive in the transfer market. We can't possibly have any high earners left.
Marshall, Evandro, Henriksen and Grosicki were all signed as Premier League players and will still be on a decent wedge, which is why none of them will be with us next season.
But all were signed after the Allams clearly decided they were spending no more money leading to Bruce's departure. Two of them in the final days of the summer window, the other two in January.
We still spent a fortune after Bruce left, £13m for Mason, £7.5m for Grosicki, £4.5m for Henriksen, along with the wages for Evandro, Mbokani, Niasse, Markovic, Ranocchia and N'Diaye.
I defy even the most bipolar thinskinned metrosexual woke 'edgy' Dramas fan to get worked up about this one, especially after their embarrassing home defeat the other night versus Rotherham. In fact, kudos to those making the trip, especially those coming by train (titter). .
"Next season is going to be a totally different kettle of fish" At least I think that is what he said. Oh dear oh dear. No sale. Sell anyone they can. Another relegation fight on the cards?
