They are not Barca and they finished well behind us in fourth place (an incredible 26 points behind). After climbing Everest, beating Barcelona 4 -0 and to stumble against Spurs of all teams giving them a first CL trophy in the process would be criminal. Just the thought is sickening. Losing will mean a dreadful summer instead of one with optimism and pride. I know it's a cup match and anything can happen but we simply have to win. By hook or by crook. And we will.
I don't agree with it being an automatic awfulness. for all we know the refs been bungled and will send fabinho off for sneezing and will basically hand the 6 kingdoms over to Kane in his wheelchair in the form of free penalties.
it's the Champions League final. I'm guessing North London rivalry doesn't make the top 10 reasons why he would want to score. Number 1 is that it is the Champions League final!
On the other hand we were right behind most of the way through the season and it was only when tiredness and injury overwhelmed us that we dropped away. We still managed our best form against City and Ajax and we have now had a rest and injuries are clearing up.
I fully expect a tough game, I just hope that we manage the game well when you have your period on top.
Being serious, the one option I would rule out is us winning easily. If you guys are on top form, I think you'll win fairly easily, but anything less we have shown we can stay in the game and fight to the end. My hopes are on a hard fought, narrow win.
This is what I think will happen, we may have a goal or two or it may be 0-0 but you'll have a period where you come at us, I've seen you do that in every CL game this season and that is when we need to stay strong and defend well to stop you coming back or going ahead. If we manage that period well we win.
the only problem is my experience of rests and clearing up injuries is that you can be flat onthe day. the extremely long time between final and last day of english season means both teams could be flat. in 2007 we were resting players in final 2 games for the big final and we were way undercooked for the game. We played poorly but the pitch was awful and grass was long etc. too. We never got going til final 10mins. It will be interesting to see where both sides are at in the first 10mins.
The game i look to is cheslea at anfield. thats the only game imo in the entire year where we blitzed a team got 2 goals and that was that
I'll get my gloating in very quickly! Can't share your "may the best team..." We all know your lot are the better team, I want the jammy underdogs to prevail.
You are of course right. Kane seems to take about 5 games to get back to his best after a lay off. However the extra adrenalin may accelerate that.
