Sorry to disagree with my fellow Leeds fans but this thread could be renamed the 'sour grapes thread'. Of course the PL isn't overrated otherwise we wouldn't have felt so devastated and written so many angry threads dissing the players as ****e for choking the autos AND the playoffs
Fair point. Hoping for fourth from bottom is no way to start a season and whilst getting to see great players at Carrow Road will be great being regularly slaughtered is not so great. At least with Sky's cash we will be able to push for promotion in 20/21
The Premiership is not overrated at all. It is the breeding place for foreign countries to better their players to win tournaments.....What it is is an expensive place to ply your trade if you dont have the type of money needed to be in the top 6 at least...they have it sewn up between them.....A European league is needed before things will become a level playing field...
Enforce ffp, have a salary cap like they did in Rugby Union, limit loans out and cap squad sizes including U23s and enforce a standard fee for agents which they would be allowed to be charged and the playing field would level out within 5 years. With the agents why not make it illegal for any club to pay an agents fee, make it have to come out the players pocket. A flood of young talent would drop down a division some would become great players helping lower clubs on the field and financially. They have no balls to implement such measures though, only way Football here can be saved is if Sky went bust
Spot on, Rich. I hate the poison that is Agents. I've always said that the showbusiness model should be used - i.e. an agent can charge what s/he likes, but it's the client that pays, usually meaning a 10-20% rake-off for the agent. Year by year they take more & more out of the game. Usually there are a minimum of 3 agents for every transaction - a sellers agent, a buyers agent, and a players agent. Why? Next thing we know the agents will have agents! Sounds ridiculous, but 20 years ago, who would have thought that the present setup was anything but a ridiculous notion? Btw, we're no angels when it comes to loaning out. By my reckoning, we've had 27 out on loan this season at various levels.
I think the difference is that most of ours are loaned out because we don’t want them and no one is prepared to buy them.
Same reason city loaned out Harrison and we got all the Chelsea crocks Wonder who will be our feeder club this summer?
As people were tipping Guardiola and Pochetino last summer to help out their mentor Bielsa with some wonder loanees, that worked well, so a few from Norwich and Bournemouth couldnt be much worse
