Good Morning. It's Monday 16th September, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines Leeds leave it late Even with 69% possession and 16 shots on goal (until the 70th minute), it was uncertain who would leave Oakwell victorious, until Nketiah joined proceedings. Don't get me wrong, Leeds were by far the better team, but we have been sucker punched more times than I can remember. With the likes of Mowatt and Wilkes (did we really only get £1.5m for him) with a point to prove, would we have been surprised to see the Tykes steal three points? Had Nketiah not come on, do you believe Leeds would have still won? It can't be easy to try and influence a game when you only have 20 minutes. How long can Nketiah keep the goals flowing playing a bit part? Why do Leeds have such a problem scoring? Whilst I'm not trying to teach Bielsa how to suck eggs, by playing the same team week in, week out surely gives the opposition an advantage as they know, bar an injury the Argentinian will play the same team week in, week out. The second point that I would make is that a handful of players, including the Captain (Cooper) have already expressed their concerns about burnout to ex White Michael Bridges on their pre season to Australia in the Summer. Bielsa post match interview The YEP caused up with Bielsa to grab this thoughts on the trip to Oakwell, and this is what he had to say:- Tabloids lay in to Leeds over crowd disturbance No sooner had the final whistle gone, than the tabloids started laying into the Whites for causing trouble during the closing stages of the Yorkshire Derby. But what really happened? Grandmother, and super Leeds fan Heidi Haigh recalled what transpired :- "As I stood to the left hand side Leeds won a penalty and Klich obliged to put the ball into the net to give us a two goal lead at the death. With delirious scenes of the celebrating Leeds fans, I suddenly heard a commotion to the left of us in the side stand". "Some Leeds fans had been sat in the seats all game at the front but must have celebrated our second goal when they got attacked. One lad with no shirt on was one of the culprits but some of the attacking was vicious". "Together with a woman, they were both attacking a lad sat down for ages before anyone intervened. I’d like to know why they weren’t both arrested instead of being let back in the stand?" "The rest of the stewards stood around that area and did nothing. It was only when loads of our stewards ran over that it all stopped. One lad gave the Leeds salute as he was taken out. With it all kicking off and fans standing in front of me I hardly saw the closing minutes of the game." "At the end, I saw one lad with a badly grazed forehead and I thought he was kicked it was that bad. I’d seen someone post before the game that they were vicious in Barnsley especially if you are found in their ends and that had been seen today." please log in to view this image
Top of the league, fantastic squad, superb individuals all playing together as a team, best football being played by any Leeds side for nearly 20 years, and yet still people moan “why doesn’t Bielsa change things up? Same old same old week in week out blah blah blah” Unbelievable.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a chilly Bardsey I thought having watched the game that this had 0-0 all over it then on comes Eddie Its not the first time there is trouble at Barnsley I remember taking Moe there and we were pelted with coins which I caught and put them in my pocket. The police were running through enmasse into terrace houses that surround the ground trying to catch the culprits who clearly had more money than sense
That was in the Barnsley end. I could see a big fat bloke with no shirt on laying into a Leeds fan with a woman involved too! In the Leeds end the trouble was purely instigated by a Barnsley steward who ejected a Leeds fan for celebrating a goal, then he returned to goad the Leeds fans with a arms gesture saying come on you lot I'll take you on. Within seconds our head Leeds steward Phil jumped on the goading tyke & both sets of stewards stepped in to calm the situation down. The culprit steward was led away towards the police area to be questioned about his stupid antics I assume. Meanwhile several Leeds fans including my mate ran down the flights of steps to put in complaints to the police/stewards after what we had all clearly witnessed. The whole ugly scenario was caused by a Barnsley official which could have kicked off big-time. I'm hoping the culprit is arrested for inciting a potential riot & he is sacked with immediate effect by BFC. Any suggestion that the Leeds fans caused the problems from the press/media is utter bollocks
Tbh the whole commotion at the end spoilt the Leeds goals celebrations as there was so much going on which was totally unnecessary
I hear that the trouble started when a steward starting laying into a Leeds fan and the thing blew up then. The steward was arrested by his fellow stewards and handed to the police so the enquiry will hopefully take this into consideration and fine Barnsley who will surely sack the steward involved. Double header for the U23s this week as we kick off at 7pm tonight against Watford and we travel to Hull on Friday night for a 7pm kick off. Lets hope we stay undefeated and we should see Bill start tonight (Ayling)
Morning all. Amazing how some can't handle any kind of discussion anymore on social media or forums. Any suggestion of alternative team changes are seen as moaning by the super fans. Its become rather pointless
Funny you should say that my thoughts exactly. You don't see people on here for ages and when they do come on they have this holier than thou attitude. They are right everyone else is wrong they would have us believe. Well tough we are all entitled to our opinions. For what it's worth I would like to see Bielsa make his changes a bit earlier(Costa&Eddie) I would even like them to start to see what happens. That's only my opinion and not having a go at any other player
It's great what Bielsa has done, but without a plan B, and squad rotation it will be a mirror image of last season, just ask Eire!!!!
Bielsa's plan B is more plan A and everybody knew/knows that so pointless complaining about so we may as-well accept that. Other things we can disagree on is Orta, Radz ownership, Kinnear academy coaches, investment and player performances. Just normal
Someone should tell Bielsa that even though we're top, even though in the the big scheme of things he's spent hardly any money, and even though the team are playing some superb football, he's doing it all wrong. Bring back Hockaday.
Bielsa said himself that it takes time to implement new players in to the team. Harrison has had a couple of average performances and Bamford has missed one or two chances. Costa has looked dangerous off the bench and Nketiah could be anything from what we have seen. Personally he looks like Premier League class so far. Bamford won't play in the Premier league. If Costa does start, then why persist with an off colour Alioski when Douglas and Costa have proven success at this level. It's not a slight on Bielsa, just an observation. Game is about opinions. And a forum is for opinions. Certainly not "moaning" about top of the league or Bielsa. I just want us to go up. (And have it done as easily as possible ) Here's the rub! I might be wrong. Probably are if you listen to my wife. That's ok though, it's just a chat innit
If you post an opinion then you should expect the possibility that it may be challenged. If you don't like the manner in which it was challenged then counter that argument in your own inimitable way as you see fit. Participation and enjoyment of forums comes from the cut and thrust of debate, not from as you suggest stifling opinions and therefore closing down the debate. I'm not aware of anyone on here who wishes for individual views to be in some way denied or suppressed. However it seems there are a few posters who rather than debate their point prefer to whinge and whine that they are in someway not entitled to it.
Oh dear today has turned into Moaning Monday Mondays should always be the busiest traffic days on here as normally just seen a league match. The norm for the last dozen years was whinge, whinge, moan, groan and that was the correct reaction.... But last season Bielsa arrived and we got spoilt with some amazing football and even non Leeds fans loved it too. We had a moan at the end of the season and we had every right to do so. We had a moan in the Summer about not buying anyone and selling everyone...... then we brought in 3 great signings. We started the season off great and are top of the league Then someone mentioned having a moan and booooom
It maybe the way I read things but I don't see any moaning groaning or winging on here, what I do read is people making suggestions on what they would like to see as our starting 11. I am one of them as I would like to see both Costa and Eddie start just to see the outcome, am I questioning Bielsa no he knows more than me. Do I criticise any player never have and doubt I ever will. The only negative I would throw in regarding a player is the quality of Philip's corner taking and in general why we nearly always seem to want to walk the ball into the back of the net however they may have been asked to play this way just my observations. OK you may ask who would I replace with Costa and Eddie. That's Mr Bielsa's job
