I made of of those silly predictions at the start of the season that Leicester will get top 4. I may well be right in that they'll get close to it. Great 1st team and even the bench is decent. Soyunchu was very good yesterday up to the point that it stopped being a contest so great for them to get £50M and then promote someone instead of buying. We'll have to be right on it next weekend.
Brendan Rodgers is doing fine, there is a stern test for him and us on Saturday. He might be of the opinion that he was untimely sacked by Liverpool and would like to prove a point.
As long as he’s not in charge of player recruitment, then he can take Leicester far. But unless he matures and learns, he will always be a failure in European cup comps.
The RB is really good, Chillwell seems to have put on a bit of weight to me and is stronger but not as quick. Quite looking forward to him and Salah going at it. I watched the game yesterday and have watched them in one other game this season Ndidi also stands out.
I liked Rodgers, I just felt he had a big job too soon. He was a bit of a nobody, but now he is making a name for himself. He plays good football, picks a lot of young players. He comes across boring as fu<k, but as long as players enjoy playing for him that doesnt matter. Recruitment though he is someone who needs a director of football
Brodgers was a likeable enough guy but he was too soft to manage a big club. He's all feel good and hugs and no steel. Which is great when you're doing well, as seen with that one season we came 2nd, but is bad when you're not , as seen the rest of his time with us. A fair weather manager capable of good things but incapable of dealing with an underporforming squad.
I watched the BBC interview after their game..........tiny little man. 13/14 was insanely exciting, he should take some credit for that.
No doubt he’s a decent manager. Had them playing well at Swansea, and again with us, had us playing some very good football going forward, he just couldn’t get us to defend at the same time. Yes he had good players but you still need to make those good players work well together, plenty of manager (even some out their atm at top clubs) struggle to do that. Problem was no doubt after suarez left he had no plan on how to play and the recruitment that came from that just made it worse. Give him him a bunch of capable players and he’ll coach them to play decent football though which has been the case with Leicester. His time at Celtic probably helped, albeit not difficult to win the league, you’re expected to and anything less is failure so prob got some good experience there
I think he is a good manager but an even better coach . Personally think he is underated here but that leads to my ext point. The biggest problem he has is just won't stop talking . I was convinced that when he was with us that every time he talked to the media LFC should have had a press officer with him who started a timer every time he answered a question and after 30 seconds stop him and say next question. His reputation would be so much better if i'd been listened to but they probably couldn't hear me over the litany of "marvellous" "proud" "could't ask for more" etc.
This was huge for me I lost interest in what he had to say and then when the results went the wrong way I wanted him out.
He isn't the most personable bloke but he is a decent coach. I liked a lot of what he did with us, but it did become clear that he wasn't going to get it quite right so I then thought it was time for us both to move on. He really had a bit of a chaotic transfer policy, and that would never work. He got a lot of things right, imo - but to succeed at this level you simply have to get everything right, and there aren't many who can pull that off. It'll be interesting to see how far he can go with Leicester. And how they react after we thump them.
i never have much interest in the after match guff but under Brendan even if we had battered someone i used to either switch off or mute it so i didn't have to listen to his bollox but could see the replays. Still think he is a pretty good manager and i hope for his sake he has toned down his psycho babble .
He's a bit of a twat, but I've still got his get well card from when I fell downstairs and ****ed myself up
