So SaintinSerbia today posted the following: Dear oh dear oh dear! What a bunch of wusses! You do realize that we're actually doing better than last season when we finished with 39 points? If you look at our games so far (8 points) and compare them with the same fixtures last season (swapping Sheffield for Cardiff) we managed 6 points. We are 25% better than last season and if we continue like this until the end of the season we will get 52 points! ----------------------------------------------------------- Funny you should say this as I was looking at previous seasons last night. I didn't look at who we had played but we have the same points as Nigels half season in charge after 12 games and same as Hughes last season. I get that we changed managers in both of those seasons but now would be too soon, we aren't by any means cut adrift and when you look at the teams we have played, how many more points could we realistically have? I also get that the performances have not been great in some of the games. Leicester, parts of Everton, Bournemouth Chelsea and Burnley spring to mind. Burnley: For some reason we generally always start badly, no idea why but I wasn't surprised by the result. Liverpool: we played well but it's Liverpool. Brighton: 3 points. Man Utd: 1 point. Sheffield Utd: 3 points. Bournemouth: They are generally a good side, but we should have done better. Tottenham: they have been poor, went down to 10 men, we should have done better. Chelsea: A really good side. Wolves:1 point. Leicester: On fire at the moment and against 10 men it generally becomes much easier, awful scoreline but result would have been the same regardless. Man City: Reigning Champions(poss not for long). Everton: There for the taking, so should have done better. We have been unlucky with the fixtures, a bit like the Adkins season. If these fixtures were more spread out then we would hopefully be in a better position. We have also had a couple of sendings off that lead to suspensions, injuries to key players or positions where for 1 reason or another we do not have adequate cover. I would hope we would soon see an upturn in results, possibly starting with the Arsenal game. It's a long season and ignoring goal difference, we are only 7 points from 10th, 8 points from 7th and 9 points from 5th. Chelsea and Leicester are 8 points from 1st, Man City are 9 points from 1st. Would these players, fans be giving up at this point or would they be believing they can catch Liverpool? I know I'm sounding optimistic and I'm fully expecting to get torn a new one but as we all know football is a funny old game. Anything can happen and I still believe in Ralph. Anyway let's believe, positive mental attitude is a thing, honest!!
Won’t get anything from Arsenal...... but after that winnable games coming up. PS can’t lose next weekend.
So Pompey got a result huh, good for them. Its nice that they can win a game every now and then, keeps them in existence so we can beat them next time we play, how generous of them. As for Warnock, now that would test an optimistic thread to its very core!!
On a very positive note, there's no chance Warnock or Allardyce will turn up at Southampton FC. Warnock is done after Cardiff. There are not enough pies at St Mary's to keep Allardyce happy. Another positive is if we keep loosing and Pompey develop the habit of winning (a bit of a long shot) it could be that we get to play them twice in a season, which is an extremely positive thing. We could meet up with PompeyLapras over a beer or three and have a fun time laughing at how much fun it is in the Championship. So in the midst of a nation wide social crisis, the country going to the dogs, a crumbling NHS, lying politicians, an out of control media, another bloody election looming, things are just not that bad. Quite a positive state of affairs ..... when you don't think about it.
