Nothing would surprise me but would be a ridiculous decision imo, doing the same thing every season has clearly failed so need to give MW this season & probably longer to give a fair chance. Certainly to keep spending more on manager compensation than the total transfer budget is no way to achieve longer term success.
I saw that link and regarded it as pure speculation based upon our “recent run of results” and on “who could next be interested in managing QPR”. We made a massive clear out of players during the summer in a manner that was truly unprecedented. We all expected a long “fine-tuning” and “gelling” period as we were clearly “work-in-progress”, and we still are! We were rather surprised, and very spoiled, by the excellent results that we achieved when we were in the upper play-off spots. However, the facts show that we win against the weaker teams and loose against the better teams. This has been rather consistent from the beginning of the season which points to a mid-table position, which is where we are. Let’s be honest, not many expected us to be mid-table with the massive “re-engineering” of the team, and yes, there are aspects to correct. We and the board need to be patient. Mark Warburton and the team need to fix sone issues as how to play the youngesters and attractive football, and keep a tight defense. This was to be a long term project and we only in its start up. I look forward to seeing how this project develops on a long term basis.
Ok, just spoke to kendal and she laughed at me and her words were Gareth is not going anywhere. So i guess as Cerney as would have said "no truth"...
Usually, there's no smoke without fire! But if this is true my interest will wane for the remainder of the season regardless of who takes over.
I was at the Notts Forest game and, to put it mildly, was very frustrated and more than a little angry. I left early (at 0-3), something I have NEVER done before. However, I support Warburton 100%. It would be madness to part company with him now and, if we did, now that would make me REALLY angry. I like what he is trying to do and, notwithstanding our chaotic defence, believe that he will improve us in the medium and long term.
I think Warburton banked a lot of credit with our early season performances and his transfer market activity in the summer. Haven't seen much grumbling about him on here, despite form taking a nose dive. I think we'll continue beating teams in the bottom 8 and struggle against the top 8. Our early season form was against poor sides, and we've struggled against better opponents. As our young team gets experience and we bring in one or two other better players, I think we'll set ourselves up well to be more competitive next year. It will be nice to have the same manager for a few years.
I left at 0-3 as well. The last time I remember doing that was when Newcastle beat us 6-0. We actually played OK at times against Forest, but there were just too many misplaced passes, and too much kamikaze defending.
This is what Warburton is trying to instill throughout all our squads - unfortunately we just don't have the quality personnel to make this work in the first team squad - at the moment....but these kids are learning the system so that they are ready to slot straight in once they get their chance....
Despite the “fake news”, it was good to have an open discussion on Mark Warburton and his achievements to date!
I hope he's given the funds in January to address the deficiencies that are all too apparent so far. He has to be given credit for what he's delivered so far, far better than expectations, and it'd be grossly unfair to pillory him for not getting everything right all across the pitch in one fell swoop. I reckon we could do with: [1] A decent goalkeeper (or replace the GK coach?) [2] At least one new central defender that's also a leader [3] A decent defensive midfielder I'm still a little bit worried about the loanees too, given that we'll likely lose most of them for next season, so probably more personnel changes than we'd prefer. Gotta be evolution and not revolution for next season.
