Yes he was miserable, which was a shame because that's how I remember him more than his performances for England. As you say though Chilcs, one of the greatest. Well, he was a cricketer first and foremost Jasper. I didn't think the youngsters would know who he was anyway, but feel free to put it on there as well if you like, I'm not worried where it is.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/50719162 Scotland lose to the USA in the ODI World Cup Group 2. Wow...just wow.
When I was looking for a suitable meme, I watched a few re-runs of that catch and it still sends shivers down my back just remembering it. Great moment in sport. Watching the crowds reaction is great too. I can remember them doing a close up of a guy on the TV just as he's saying to his mate "what a ****ing catch".
Interesting to read that the ECB have replaced 6 run penalties as from next season, for failing to bowl your overs in the allotted time in limited overs cricket. Instead, the fielding side must bowl all remaining deliveries with one extra fielder kept inside the circle.
So after the race to sign Amla during 2019 (and Morkel two years earlier), it would appear that county cricket now has a race to sign Philander. He's retiring from international cricket after test series.
De Kock is dangerous enough as a middle order batsman. But he can be match-winning dangerous when batting with the tail. Part of me looks at this SA tail and thinks we could knock them over quite quickly. Part of me fears De Kock farming the strike, and absolutely opening up.
Only a handful overs of spin bowled. Given how long it takes seamers to bowl these days, there was absolutely no chance of us bowling the full 90 overs with an almost all-seam attack. I'm not against it (ie no spinner) as a tactic, but it will ultimately see Root pick up regular fines (and potentially bans) for slow over-rates if it continues medium-term.
