Even £6m to £9m plus the reported £1m loan fee and wages is way too much , especially as Farke recently said his best position is as centre back. I stand by my earlier post that we dodged a bullet on that one.
That's the advantage of loan deals - you can 'try before you buy'. IMO Amadou, Roberts and Heise all failed to improve on what we already have.
I would still like to take Fahrmann permanently if the price isn't too high. He was brilliant in the F.A cup
No more than Tettey normally, i.e. when playing on the right of a double pivot (the fans wouldn't be shouting "Shoot" at AT if he wasn't 5 yards outside the opposition box! Newcastle was the exception, not the rule, though we do tend to be a bit more circumspect playing away.
With respect Dunc, I think you need to read the EDP article again. It acknowledges quite clearly that it is based on reports in Spanish and French newspapers. I don't need to provide a link, there's one in the article itself to an earlier article by Dave Freezer which refers to the newspapers concerned. As often, the EDP was simply filling column inches rehashing reports in other papers.
So we are in complete agreement, shelling out our record transfer fee for a guy that failed to challenge a 33 year old with dodgy knees and ended up 5th choice centre back would be bad business ergo dodged a bullet.
Plenty of bad business evident in the whole sorry Amadou saga, but making out we were committed to buy in the event of staying up when the truth is we simply had an option and no such commitment is plain silly. No-one was holding a gun to our head, so no bullet to dodge.
Disagree, Good business in that we took the player on loan rather than jumping in with both feet. Having had a really good look at him & used him to help us out when our main CB's were injured, we decided to let him go without any significant impact on our finances. Things didn't work out, for what every reason, unfortunate for Amadou & us, so we both move on.
No sh1t Sherlock! Hardly a surprise to see these five linked with moves away. https://readnorwich.com/2020/02/08/players-norwich-could-lose-if-they-relegated-to-the-championship/
Saw an interesting stat this week about the relative wealth of club owners in the Prem. Unsurprisingly we're bottom of the pile, with only us, Burnley and Watford having owners worth less than £100m, and Bournemouth and Sheffield Utd the only other clubs with owners worth less than £1bn. The surprise for me was that the Sheffield United owner is "only" worth £200m or so. They've spent £62m on transfer fees this season, which whilst obviously not entirely from his own pocket, does it suggests there's a risk that this isn't sustainable?
Interesting report on our new signing Sam McCallum: https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/coventry-city-defender-sam-mccallum-scout-report-1-6505832

Yes, I thought Ibe and Darlow we're good possibilities from that point of view. Darlow has had good experience at Newcastle and could replace Fährmann. Ibe is a versatile player who hasn't really broken through at Bournemouth. This from Wiki: "Brendan Rodgers has described Ibe as "a really talented player with a bright footballing brain" who has the versatility to play as a winger on either flank, as a playmaker or as a striker. Steve McClaren, who managed Ibe during his loan at Derby County, saw Ibe as an exciting player "like the old jinky wingers we used to get in the game". Andy Hunter of The Guardian described Ibe as an "individual of impressive pace, power and control", who produces threatening performances and stands out because of his good temperament, intelligence, creativity and directness." Might he be another that DF and co gets back on track? Edit: Whatever the incoming possibilities suggest, SW has certainly managed our players' contracts well: https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/norwich-city-in-control-of-contracts-1-6511841
Ibe was set to become the next big thing, with becoming an England regular firmly placed in his future. For some reason this hasnt happened and he rarely even makes the Bournemouth squad - I believe they paid nearly £30m for him
