I would not be so sure of that Andy.... That is the impression he likes to create.. We discovered a while back a lot of cutting and pasting...
In the subject of masks you may have looked at the Czech vid. I posted.. The cat is now out of the bag.. And US health advisor is now admitting they are helpful etc I am sure it is all about supply... There are just not enough worldwide.. The same reason they are saying hand sanitiser is not necessary...
The Robert Koch Institute have also done a U turn on this - they initially said that wearing a mask was not usefull but have now gone back on this. As if it's not obvious that any barrier over my mouth and nose is going to provide some protection - even if it's only 60% it's still better than nothing. One of the reasons why Asian countries have been more successfull on this is because the wearing of masks is much more common there.
The ones I have supposedly offer 95% protection.. Good enough for me .. Yes, anything I can do to protect myself....
Frontline workers in pharmacists are being subjected to a wave of abuse ranging from violent attacks to verbal intimidation such as being told: “I hope you get coronavirus.” Police patrols have been deployed to some outlets as deterrents amid mounting day-to-day tensions, scuffles in queues outside premises, which are limiting the number of entrants, and incidents including the theft of one Midlands’ pharmacy’s stock by masked raiders. “We’re doing our best, the NHS is doing its best and this type of behaviour is totally unacceptable,” said Claude Pereira, a pharmacist in Stratford where police were called after a customer smashed a glass door and threatened to kill staff. It has often been said that the French do not have a word for queue, and don't understand the principle of one. The people that I have seen waiting to be served outside my local pharmacy have formed a very good line, well apart from each other, waiting for the pharmacist to come out and collect their prescription. They do not allow anyone into the shop. I am sure that stories like this do not reflect on the vast majority, but after the fights over loo rolls, one does ask the question if the UK is becoming the wild west of Europe.
From the University of Sydney - their modelling shows, as the headline suggests, that the isolation regime is a marathon, not a sprint - and won't end until late July at the very earliest. Given that the Australian restrictions are a bit tougher than those in place here, I'd say it doesn't bode well for football this year. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-03/coronavirus-data-modelling-covid19-stay-home/12114978
Sorry SH. I have talked about France several times today, as it is, not as you seem to think it is. You trying you usual let's knock France tactics will not happen. Either your posts will be removed, or you will be.
I think we all need a break from this inflammatory posting. I was just reading the awful news of a 36 year old mother of three totally healthy nurse dying of CV....... terrible.....
Well one form of Corona has stopped.. https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-mexican-brewer-suspends-corona-beer-production-11967943
Long chat this afternoon with my friend in Dorset. His son owns a very successful pub, restaurant and hotel and when the order came to close he did, which was just as well as the next morning the police were there to make sure that he had. He employs quite a few staff and wanted to work out what he would need to make up wages, as when things get back to normal he wants them back. He listened to what help was available, worked out all of the figures for a business survival plan, then went along to the bank to ask for a short term loan, or one that could be renewed until he can start trading again. He was turned down flat. Because the business normally runs at a profit and doesn't need to borrow, then he doesn't have a credit rating as such with the bank. Despite showing the company returns, the bank would not give him any support. He now has no idea how much longer the money in the bank will last, or quite knows where to turn next. He tried another bank, but was told they are not taking on any new customers. There is no doubt there are many small businesses out there in a similar state, and judging by the figures coming out not much of the promised help via the banks is getting through.
These banks need to remember who bailed them out when it went tits-up for them in the financial crisis - maybe it is now time to repay that moral debt by supporting the very people that made the bail-outs possible!!!!
