This is the crux of his post, society has become more divided since the 80s and is becoming more so plus more personally profit driven to the detriment of it overall. There are some obscenely rich people living here now in a country where there is homelessness, child poverty, food banks and zero hour contracts. The gap is widening and it has to slow down and become more fair eventually or else we return to a Dickensian land with a small percentage of the population effectively have everything and large swathes of the country will have nothing and no substantial health care. Now this social gap has happened under both main political parties but Kaito's point is that maybe this experience will usher in a new kind of politics where social care is given more emphasis rather than personal financial gain. The politicians have the power to change things it is also too easy to say that it's the way things have always been so just accept it.
Really, what did he say? There were no solutions, only that it is all wrong and should be changed. As you say, stick in in the other thread, and away from here, and each to their own. Some people are more easily pleased than others.
That is mainly because there wasn’t anywhere near as much money in the 80’s. And the rest of your points around homelessness, poverty etc were there in abundance, and zero hour contracts were called unemployed. And the OP is in my opinion offering no solutions, you try telling a nation it needs lots more in tax to pay for this different way, they wont even be elected by their own party.
Did I say otherwise? I am getting pretty ****ed off with a large number on here preaching about this better society, when they have lived the largest chunks of their lives, in all likelihood and doubtful they made such claims back then. It comes across to me a totally pious, and easy to say when you are unlikely to be paying for it over many years to come. Anyhow, I cant be arsed to get into an argument with the selfish ****s on here who can make such claims without it really affecting them so much, or without really offering up how we reach this. I am off to play with my unicorns on my manor.
He said we could care for each other more, rethink what’s important to us, maybe ease up on the heartbreaking struggle for wealth and status. No doubt you’ll say that’s naive. Maybe it is. But it’s equally naive to assume we can just go back to ripping the guts out of Mother Earth with impunity.
Well, maybe naive, but it really doesn’t solve many of the underlying issues. Anyhow mate, I deliberately dont read the politics thread as I think it is total bollocks, so had the post been on there I wouldn’t have reacted to it.
Our prime minister is in hospital, its very hard not to talk about politics in this scenario. I dont really get what you're so upset about? His post was literally that he would like to see a fairer society after this crisis, as maybe a small positvie after such a **** period. Why are you angry about that? Who hurt you
Who said anything about being angry, I am a bit pissed off at the attitude of a number on here, making easy claims of change with not really any way as to how that can happen. Especially as it is, in the main, coming from people who had there time and chose not to challenge society in the same way they feel the need to do so now - mainly as it is likelier to be easier for them to do so. That is the bit that gets on my tits. It is also an Internet forum, for people to express views, so I am surprised by your comment. I haven’t been offensive nor personal to anyone. Is it that I am less entitled to a view than you, Kaito or anyone else? And it has been agreed, even by those in charge, this thread should be free of politics, so it is easier than you think not to do so, as there is a thread focused only on bolloxtics. How about you get over there if you want to carry that on - that ok with you?
Calling out people for talking bollocks when they were expressing a wish is going a bit far Billy. No one said it was easy, just that the crisis might make a few people reevaluate their lives, that’s all. That isn’t politics in my view.
Do you know what Chico, I am not surprised by your biased view either. I didn’t say anyone was talking bollocks, that was a reference to the politics thread, as I feel that is bollocks. You are deliberately ignoring the point I was making, by turning this into me calling people out. I didn’t do that at all and that is pretty unfair on you. I said there wasn’t really any solutions offered, which is factual. I also said that people should have a view - as this is an Internet forum. But you do miss my point, so let’s leave it there, although I am disappointed in your message. Anyhow - stay safe and healthy (that is the serious part as I genuinely mean that), and if we all wish hard enough, light some candles and hold imaginary hands, we can come out the other side in a much better world
I think, that in a time of crisis that is calling for national unity, your posts come across as condescending, cynical and essentially you are just trying to rub people up the wrong way. Sometimes, the old adage of 'if you cant say anything nice, don't say anything at all' should be listened to.
Really? That wasn’t the intention at all, and so you could take your own advice. It just appears my view is different from yours, and that bothers you. You know what, I think I will leave your little boys club, and it is that, with populous view, and if it a different view doesn’t fit, this is the type of horse **** that gets spouted. The ****ing irony is lost, as this is the type of **** you are all accusing the government and big business of being like Just so we are clear - I will try my hardest to only post views that are similar to yours and the other populist ones and wont say another word about any of this
Nah, don't change. If you want to disagree with something, go right ahead. Towing the line is for sheep and idiots.
