I agree, it's simple, it addresses the problem directly and it's great PR. It'll be interesting to see what happens come end-June though.
SSN - Premier League clubs will receive advance of millions of pounds each to assist cash flow during coronavirus pandemic. Includes ‘merit payments’.
Fantastic point from Georgie Bingham on TS. She said, that any club seeking financial assistance from the government and ultimately the tax payer SHOULD NOT be allowed into the transfer window. If they cannot afford to pay furloughed staff wages, they cannot afford agents fees, signing on fees etc. Cascarino was quick to back her up and said that they wouldn't sign up for it if that was the case... I'm trying to upload the clip..
AS Roma players and staff ALL agree to go without wages for 4 months.... ... meanwhile in England.,...!!!!
Hull City are hopeful of finally reaching a resolution with their players over a wage deferral following further talks in recent days. Vice chairman Ehab Allam has been in negotiations with the playing staff regarding a proposed cut to their salary, with a compromise thought to be edging ever closer. Many Championship clubs across the country are currently speaking to their players, with City believed to be among a group bypassing the PFA and dealing with their players directly to reach an amicable solution. Ehab Allam wrote to all staff, including players, at the start of this month to warn that measures needed to be taken to “safeguard jobs and avoid any compulsory redundancies.” While City have placed many staff on furlough and both Grant McCann and his coaching staff have accepted a wage cut, the players, like many across the league, are yet to agree on terms of any sort of salary sacrifice. It is understood Allam’s initial request that all playing staff take a 20 per cent pay cut in line with furloughed workers is now off the table and the discussions being held are regarding a deferred wage cut.
Any idea if the 'normal' staff on furlough are getting paid their full wage? Hope so If the are only getting 80% then the players should demand their reduction goes straight to the other staff
it isn't anything yet, they haven't agreed it I'm telling them what they should do...and they'd do well to listen to me
Wayne Rooney leads Derby players in a WAGE WAR as he tells club chiefs that squad will not accept proposal to defer HALF of their pay - with former England captain only willing to see salaries slashed by 25% https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...attle-against-clubs-proposed-50-deferral.html I dont understand why footballers in the top two divisions can't accept a 50% deferral If they need the money there's something wrong with their lifestyle My rental income is down, I can't sell a house and many of my clients can't pay me but I'm grateful that I can still work
I've read more into it and players could have a scaled deferral based on their income If Premier League clubs do restart the season without fans and have all games shown live on TV I would hope the EFL clubs show matches for free on TV or over the internet Sky have stopped my payments for Sky Sports and BT Sport.
I have cancelled my Sky package fully, I have even received my packaging to return my Sky Q box back to them. I have a free 3 month trial for BT Sport which I can start when sport restarts again. The financial repercussions around the sport black out will be felt in 3-6 months time, I am expecting football, rugby and cricket clubs to go to the wall due to vastly reduced TV and no gate revenues. Dark days ahead I am afraid.
Hull City’s players are close to agreeing a 25 per cent wage deferral for the next four months to help ease the financial pressures building at the KCOM Stadium. City’s vice chairman Ehab Allam has held a series of talks with the first-team squad over the last three weeks in a bid to reduce the club’s outgoings during the current state of lockdown. A 20 per cent pay cut proposed by the Tigers’ board was rejected by players earlier this month but a middle ground has now been reached that will see a quarter of all salaries deferred in April, May, June and July. It is understood repayment of those deferred wages would then begin in September through to the end of the calendar year. There is a broad agreement within City’s first-team squad that a 25 per cent deferral is a fair compromise and will help to protect the jobs of non-playing staff at the KCOM Stadium.
Wayne Rooney's weekly salary of around £100,000 per week means he takes home around a quarter of an entire team's wages from last season. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...kers-finances-threaten-ruin-Championship.html
It has been 10 weeks since this thread and just what have our top players contributed? I am not talking about the odd headline but the lack of any group effort. 10 weeks on full pay for most and as far as I have seen, little or no publicised heroic effort, nothing for the kids that support them, no advice, education, not even any funny videos. Have they all just been playing computer games or watching tv? What a sad bunch of privileged superstars.
. If they publicised all they did some would moan that they’re attention seeking but apart from that I seem ti remember quite a few stories of their contributions as well as seeing plenty of funny video clips. Send us a link to your contributuons.
