Calling me Philip Hammond is having a pop mate. It's up there with being compared to Piers ****ing Morgan man.
I totally understand your point and to some degree I share it. I think the idea of "herd immunity" gives the impression of back to normal which o strongly disagree with. I think there will be some necessary risks to be taken but things like Footy, cinema, pubs, etc. Don't fall into that bracket. I think the way to move on is to reduce the lockdown, open up more of the economy but still focus on social distancing, people staying at home if it's non essential. Basically, go to work and go home for the time being. I'd be encouraging companies to do shifts where possible to ease the congestion on transport and in workplaces.
Problem is Herd Immunity is only scientific conjecture - https://www.who.int/news-room/commentaries/detail/immunity-passports-in-the-context-of-covid-19 The only way out of this is a viable medicinal treatment of the virus, vaccines are not always the answer and maybe years away, or hopefully the best scenario the virus will be disappear as quick as it arrived.
That word element is a bit scary, what I’m really worried about is going back to work cos I’ve never enjoyed my time off so much.
This has all been a bit surreal and far off for me until this last week. My brother (70 yrs old, has Emphysema with degenerative lung changes) has been in hospital with alzheimer problems since about 4 weeks before lockdown. On Weds he suddenly developed a high fever and pneumonia. Had a Covid-19 positive result back today - just after he suddenly became much worse and they sent for his next of kin. He took me to my first ever football league match down in Chester when I was about 7. Cost 17p and 5p for a programme. Not expected to see the morning. FFS man!
Really terrible to hear that mate. This is a dreadful time, best wishes to you for what that's worth.
As above mate. Best wishes. Its taken a while but now I'm hearing stories of people i know with family members taking ill. Sad times.
Isn't there a trend weekend deaths usually under reported that's why you see a spike on Tuesday Wednesday etc
