Unfortunately the damage will be done by the time some people work out what they voted for ......no deal Brexit in December
Reading on many social media platforms, as soon as anybody mentions the government’s inept handling on the virus ....the remoaner card is thrown into every discussion blaming anyone who speaks against Boris as an excuse to attack Boris over Brexit. Then most comments are followed up with you lost get over it, leave Boris alone. So yes the leave campaign are very much blinded by the governments actions .
Yes I'm afraid that could well be the outcome. Can only hope the parlous economic situation may mean a delay is inevitable. This is not a plastic straw I'm clutching.
It is difficult to keep chat about covid-19 political lite, you can only discuss what you had for dinner today in lockdown only so-much. Nearly everything else has a political dimension. I have never voted tory and I am a remainer but I do agree there have been too many sweeping comments directed to supporters of those two trains of thought. You don't win arguments by calling people stupid. Then again people have to at least willing to hear the other point of view. Social media only rewards those who shout loudest not the most reasoned. Therefore I think as previously stated, any colour of government would be struggling now, and the current government finacial help (or at least the headlines of it) have been more generous than what I would have expected. However I think this government is begining to realise that the repercussions of this pandemic is going to stretch beyond the life of this parliment and are desperate to take the brakes off lockdown, but are caught in the trap if they make the situation worse by having a second wave. Personally I think a second and even a third wave is likely to happen. I just hope that the spirit of co-operation being held by the majority continues, but as someone else said it only takes a few people to break that spirit before it becomes normalised again.
Corbyn was not alone in advocating early action. Calling for COBRA meetings, following WHO advice and learning from other countries experiences. Test trace and isolate, lockdown and stopping public gatherings. Going ahead with Cheltenham, Liverpool v Atletico, spaffer Johnson at Twickenham and other gatherings allowed was widely regarded as foolhardy. Gung ho handshaking Boris can take it on the chin while our loved ones die. UK heading toward leading the per capita death toll. Of course the knives are out check the tory press. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...hed-government-drill-killer-flu-outbreak.html https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...n-britain-sleepwalked-into-disaster-hq3b9tlgh https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ately-rewriting-history-amid-coronavirus.html
One of the points raised in Panorama, was that Covid-19 was originally considered a High Consequence Infectious Disease (HCID), but around 6 weeks ago they downgraded it - Roughly at the time they realised that they didn’t have the amount of PPE that is legally required to cope with a HCID. Coincidence? https://www.gov.uk/guidance/high-consequence-infectious-diseases-hcid
What you might think of as the ‘Tory press’ is shifting a bit. The Sunday Times has a new, female editor, who is looking to shift their stance more toward the New York Times - a more liberal publication that has the weight to be feared by government. Hence the Boris bashing piece the other week.
I agree that any government would probably be struggling with this virus pandemic but let us not forget that ten years of severe cuts to the NHS and other public services, focussing on selling off everything they could to Richard Branson and his like have left our health service dreadfully under staffed and under equipped for any wide spread medical emergency. Add into that a complete disregard for the personal well being of front line medical staff and support workers and you have a recipe for a complete disaster, which is exactly what now have. Personally I don't care whether it is a Conservative or a Labour government that has brought this about. I also don't care if the fact that this government are behaving in such a deplorable manner on a daily basis upsets a few folk. It isn't about party political point scoring. It is about any government having the affront to stand up at a daily briefing, failing to answer questions truthfully and always trying to shift the blame elsewhere. It's about the 'professional management' this crowd of useless half-wits like to project while the reality is they are a complete and utter cluster-****. There's no getting around it, they should all be locked away where they are unable to do any further damage to our country. If there is any justice left in this world these people should stand trial for the gross mismanagement that has destroyed the lives of many thousands of people. They can't even be bothered to give accurate figures for the number of people who have died from this virus. It's as if modern technology is incapable of calculating such vast numbers? Sorry but these people are an absolute disgrace and the saddest thing is that some of the best of us have died because of them.
The next person to mention politics on this thread is gonna have a bounty put on their head! Do they still make the red ones does anybody know? Cant say I've seen one for years and I spend quite alot of my time wandering the snack aisles.
I cant be arsed, honestly to keep reading on here. It is brutal and one dimensional, that is more my point, about the one directional approach. No country is happy right now, and we'd all likely be complaining about whoever was in charge, so for me it is less about politics, but obviously to you and others, it is.
I do try to stick to the restrictions, but when the little ****er was just about to jump infront of me to grab the last pack of oreos **** was always gonna do down.
Am I the only one who doesn’t think a lot of Oreos? What’s wrong with Maryland cookies (other biscuits are available).
Oreos smashed up over Ice cream is pretty dam good. I personally think Maryland cookies are dry as ****.
With a brew they are simply lovely, must say I haven’t had Oreos over ice cream! Might try that otherwise I find them bland.
