From the statement to the echo. Madrox responded: “Madrox was indeed created as the vehicle in which to acquire Sunderland AFC. However, it is looking at other investments in the sport and leisure sector to complement this. That was a contributing factor in seeking a wider investment base and this along with the fact that some investors wish the detail of their financial involvement, like many people investing in businesses, to remain private, means that Madrox affairs must remain confidential.” By having the debt changed over it opens up the possibility that FPP via Madrox could invest in someone else. A cnuts trick if they do it mind.
"Over the weekend, SAFC opened up a regular dialogue with the Sunderland Echo." Which would've been a great idea when they first arrived at the club ....
Surely if they wanted to invest in someone else, they would simply invest on their own, rather than making things unnecessarily complicated by doing so via Madrox.
You’d have thought so, unless they really have invested in Donald as he suggested. But even if they have, this latest PR fiasco isn’t showing him in a good light. With more to follow as well in the Athletic if that comes off. I doubt they appreciate that level of scrutiny.
That says to me they hope to sometime in the future invest in other types of facilities etc linked to the club in and around the SOL etc. If FPP and co do take a leading role then I’d assume this would become the case. that’s the way I see it and a counter argument to debate over.
Saying that Madrox is a vehicle to acquire SAFC and is looking at other investments to complement this doesn't sound like they want to replace SAFC. I would be more hopeful hearing that. And with Smug's news about a small change in the position of FPP I'm a tiny bit more hopeful.
Just about how I read it, I was encouraged until I read some of the responses over the road and on Twitter
I really hope so. It’s been ongoing so long that I think everyone is weary of it. I hope the people at FPP see what’s going on and step in as it’s getting out of hand now. If they don’t, I would question if they ever would get involved because as things stand the relationship between fans and club is as low as I can remember.
Exactly. It could mean anything from golf courses to gyms to sportswear manufacturers. It would be a sensible and responsible thing to do too.
Over the rd is that busy in times like this the decent sensible posts get lost amongst the static and hysteria.
