Two months since documents submitted. There is nothing particularly complex about this. I am confident it will go ahead. If we were Man Utd it would have taken two weeks.
Agreed. They don’t want another player at the table and are hoping to block it. Or at least put some form of restrictions on what we can do. Honestly though I’ve been saying for weeks now. Probably even months that there was a problem or it would have been completed. I still believe this is the case however it’s definitely dragging for a reason now. All the Twitter ITK saying it’s tomorrow next day blah blah have gone quite. Even some of the big players have egg on their faces now.
Look, can the PL really afford to block this? I think they're just being deliberately very, very slow to appear to have done a proper job on it. I doubt there's been even one red flag, the amount of diligence that went into the proposal (some 350 pages) was probably extremely thorough and no doubt included the piracy concerns. I suspect Smith is right - the PL haven't really got a reason to block it, and have therefore just avoided saying anything, which is then why the Saudi side would be baffled by the lack of conclusion.
Considering that the Saudis apparently want to out bid BeIN for the rights so more money coming in and also more top players in the PL which makes the broadcasting rights even more valuable you'd think they'd be rushing to get it approved
How? We keep agreeing we don’t know but then you keep alleging there must be an issue. Based on what? There is no set timescale so that can’t show there’s an issue. The simple and only factually correct answer is that we don’t know. Also pure speculation. Not based on anything other than a half empty attitude.
Maybe there is. A combination of Qatar's Bein Sports being dickheads, many PL clubs being fearful and complainng, NUFC being utterly unimportant in the eyes of PL/FA and the PL themselves being utterly incompetent. It's not a good combination. Either way, it's ****ing exhausting and if, at the end of it all, we're stuck with Ashley then I'm 100% giving up.
