Good Morning. It's Wednesday 3rd June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Second Preston player confirmed with Covid19, but only after full contact match The Daily Mail have revealed that another Preston North End player has contracted the Covid 19 virus. We heard last week that fellow LilyWhite Jayden Stockley had returned a positive reading, and is self isolating for 14 days as per the Government's track and trace guidelines released last week. It was only after Preston's first full contact match (yesterday) that the latest results were revealed! The identity of the individual is unknown but the result raises concerns that not only is the season returning too early but will Alex Neil's squad have to self isolate for two weeks? This will have a massive impact on Preston's preparations for their opening games against Luton and Cardiff. As far as Leeds are concerned, they also still have to play Nottingham Forest and Brentford. please log in to view this image Robbo sceptical that fans will stay away from Elland Road Former Leeds and England shot stopper Paul Robinson has been discussing the recent article in the Times deeming the Whites 'high risk' of fans turning up in their droves at Elland Road on match days prompting authorities to consider switching home games to neutral venues. Robinson said, “You don’t know, you’d really like to be able to trust people. “But then you read the newspapers about the beaches in Cornwall over the weekend. “I live in a beautiful place here and the amount of people here has been absolutely unprecedented. The way people aren’t social distancing and the way they’re ignoring all the guidelines that have been set out, it’s terrible. “There are 50 times more people here than normal because it’s a really nice place for a day out. The car park was overflowing. “That will happen at football grounds – you’d like to think not but you don’t know. “I suspect a minority of fans will turn up, unfortunately.” please log in to view this image Pick your favourite Managers On this day in 2016 Garry Monk took charge of Leeds Utd. At the time the vast majority of the Football World said he was mad to take on such a challenge. Obviously a season later Monk left, saying Leeds would not match his expectations and joined Championship rivals Middlesbrough. Was Monk only using Leeds as a stepping stone? Was Monk's signature the first sign at Eland Road that things were changing for the better? How does the former Swansea Midfielder compare to other Managers? Good Morning to Matt and co from a wet Bardsey I would say Revie Wilco Bielsa Three poor ones in the last 16 years everyone I never liked Monk I always thought he had an agenda especially re transfers using the same agent
Morning all. Can't argue with Leeds60 on the top three (can anyone ?). Three worst - Dennis Wise, Hockaday and sad to say it but Allan Clarke (I'm only counting managers that have been in charge in my lifetime, there are probably worse before that).
Clearly not as I put Clarke in the list ! Yeah Heck was awful but I just don't think Leeds should have gone down with the players we had and Heck only had half a season. Plus Clarke made me cry myself to sleep the night we lost 2-0 to WBA and relegation was confirmed.
Exactly. Hence why it was unfair to judge a lot of the managers we had, apart from Hockaday who we all know was completely out of his depth and should never have been in the job in the first place. In fact I might have to rethink as it was hardly his fault we had a total lunatic for an owner.
Didn't realise Robbo lived in beautiful Cornwall Thank god we cancelled our late June holiday in St Ives, it's always busy there but I knew it would be crammed as holidaymakers cannot holiday abroad right now. Unfortunately whilst we are adopting a unselfish attitude by staying safe, many Brits are having a jolly (mainly the young I suspect). Our fans wont stay away because their fanaticism overrides common-sense, tbh with many of them LUFC rules their lives. Still unconvinced the championship football shall start or the fixtures will be completed Best three Leeds coaches Revie Bielsa Wilko
Monk gets a rough ride and rightly so but I would say he was the one who started to turn the club around. He started to unify the team and fans together and players seemed to want to play for him, the club and each other. Hate to say it but he (and Pontus) were possibly the catalysts for our turn around in fortunes.
Good morning all Apart from the obvious three, an honourable mention should go to Simon Grayson, for he was building a formidable team from nothing/zilch which is almost impossible in football, if only we had a half descent owner at the time, I still believe to this day we would have gained promotion years back.
Was his second full season in charge and he royally ****ed up in a play-off final we should have won.
Morning all. I see the pl clubs have been given permission to play friendliest against championship clubs. Wonder who’ll we play and if televised. I’m getting desperate for footie now. My top 3 managers revie, Wilkoand Marcelo. Bielsa potential to pass Wilko In not too distant future
It will be interesting to see if Poveda can break into the firs team. He was expected to over the Summer
As expected a number of alternative proposals (on how to end the season if not played to completion) were submitted by clubs to the EFL board yesterday. The EFL board wil now discuss the new proposals before an expected vote next week at which the 71 EFL clubs will (hopefully) decide on what method will be used should the season be unable to be finished. Unsuprisingly Tranmere Rovers have submitted a proposal invlolving PPG but with a ' margin for error ' based on analysis of the previous 3 seasons outcomes and yes you've guessed it, were that proposal to be accepted then Tranmere would avoid relegation from L1. Other proposals submitted are as yet unknown.
Top 10 stadiums for atmosphere, apparently. Clearly never been to Hampden Park is all I can say. Don't recall any atmosphere at all at Valley Parade or Tynecastle either. Both grounds are similarly half-built & the sound just drifts out. Lots more comments, but won't hog it - will leave it you guys .... https://www.1sports1.com/best-stadi...tHTN6nlXNzhB7WoS72Ga7vKWqe9GUB0Jv91AiZv6Q5z1k
