Glad to see Douglas having a good game today, though he has his limitations I’ve always liked him. Roberts too - other than Pablo he’s the most skilful ball player we have at 10 Happy days, win our own games and sod the rest. MOT!
it,s just a relief to still be clear of brentford.west brom have terrible form and i hope for a result sunday for us.
The points thing is because of Bates & us. Remember he waited until we mathematically couldn't avoid being relegated, then went into admin. Big rule change after that cunning stunt. If you're getting relegated anyway, the deduction takes place next year & you'd start then with -12. If you have enough points to avoid relegation, then the -12 is are deducted after the last game, whether you get relegated or not. And they will!
Just to add to this, a yellow for the goalkeeper when Bamford had a clear scoring opportunity & there was no-one else to intervene? Think this ref had his own set of (anti-Leeds) rules.
Didn't seem to be a lot wrong with Meslier's positioning. The wall was fine, it was just a brilliant free kick, sometimes you've got to hand it to the opposition! That said, it was never a free kick in the first place.
I watched it a few times on Sky, it really was terrible positioning, have another look when you can. If that was Kiko he would have been slaughtered
Got it up now. I'm no goalkeeper but I really don't see what the big deal is. He's stood on the right hand side of his goal as with the wall covering the left hand side. There's two Blackburn players stood potentially ready to take the free kick, one right footed, one left. If he'd stood on the other side with the wall covering the right hand side of the goal and the left footed player took it and put it right in the opposite top corner, would you be saying it was poor positioning still or would it be a great free kick? It looked like it was set up to be bent in towards the post Meslier was covering, the positioning made perfect sense to me. The free kick was just placed right in the opposite top corner. The wall should have maybe covered but come on, the guy could honestly not have placed that any better.
Nah, I'm not having Meslier at fault for the goal. He set his wall and stood at the other side of it. It was a world class finish, probably better than Phillips free kick tbh. I did think Meslier was particularly nervy in the first half with his distribution. It caused us a few problems first 20. Thought Douglas was outstanding today. His best game in a Leeds shirt. Phillips had his best game of the mini season. White was another 9 out of 10 performer. Klich looked back to form. Ayling was solid again. Finally, in fairness, Bamford played ok. His first touch is still abysmal though. Alot of positives today, not many negatives. 6 points clear with 5 games to go. Slowly getting there. Hull have won 1 drawn 1 and lost 1 since the break. They might just do something tomorrow. It's unlikely but not as unlikely as it would have been in March.
Oh, and have a look at the goals we have conceded since we started up again! The two against Cardiff were outside the box, one in off the post. The one against Luton was a worldy in to the top bin and todays may as well have been taken by Messi or Ronaldo it was that good. When we do concede it always seems to be their goal of the season contenders!
