This could be the start of the domino effect. Football could be in a seriously dark place in the coming days, weeks and months.
In the words of the song Knock Knock who’s There , is anyone going to come knocking on Stewart Donald’s door to take the club off his hands and get our club moving in the right direction. More than likely he will have to plead with FPP to take the club off his hands as he certainly wants out .
There’s gonna come a line where he’d be better giving the club away as it will cripple him carrying the losses that the mismanagement is going to cause. He’d be wise to say to FPP ‘gimme £10 million and it’s yours’
I think anyone who is interested in buying a football club will be waiting to see who goes into admin I the hope of getting a club for next to nowt. Unfortunately can't, see Donald walking away with nowt. I think he will be here for a while yet. Hope iam wrong.
Saw on twitter that they were taken over only 4 weeks ago. Must’ve had the same “fit and proper” panel that they had for Donald!!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ng-Wigan-Athletics-stricken-former-owner.html Dodgy **** going on corrupt as **** football
I’ve just read a staggering thread about this on Twitter and why’s gone on, Wigan’s primary sponsor involved apparently and a massive bet placed in Hing Kong for them to be relegated. It looks like a mass betting scam, coordinated by their sponsors and new owners, look it up if you can find it, as I can’t work out how to share a Twitter link as I don’t use it.
Rick parry was recorded saying that the EFL had heard that rumour. A Wigan fan collared him in the street and he volunteered the information. This is horrendous if true. Buy a club, sell it to “yourself” (the guy who owned it owns the company which bought it I believe) then go into administration 4 weeks later!
It’s mental mate, question gotta be answered by the EFL, there’s even a rumor one of the ‘owners’ doesn’t even exist. This is a good club at the heart of its community getting shredded because some billionaire in the Far East was gonna lose a bet? How can this happen? The authorities in this country outside the PL are really looking untenable and unsuitable. We need the PL to take over the football league from top to bottom.
The EFL are proper crap like. Give the go ahead for a takeover then 4 weeks later the club goes into administration. That organisation needs a complete overhaul as it seems to be pretty much useless at actually protecting clubs. Got to feel for all associated at Wigan like, hope it works out for them.
They got 4m for Grigg so what happened ? can we take their place in the championship ? we cannot go that bad i would hope shares could be sold to raise money i would buy a £1000 worth somehow so times that by say 30,000 £30m no bother, we could sign Grabban then !.
It's ****ing horrific and shows exactly how ****ed the EFL are as an institution. What exactly do you have to do to fail a fit and proper persons test? There doesn't appear to be a red line anywhere, whether it's financial or moral. Football as a whole is a bit of a ponzi scheme in some ways. Basically, can you con someone slightly wealthier to finance a pipe dream?
You’d think it will have a major fallout. They’ve blown up a major betting scam in plain sight, without a care to the hundreds employed by the club and its importance on the community to a small town. It needs a massive reaction from the EFL, but we all know it won’t get one.
Depends what happens to them. I feel sorry for their fans, but the EFL has proved to be yet another corrupt footballing body alongside FIFA, UEFA, the PL etc. None of them have a shred of decency, so it'd be a miracle if there's any major reform.
We could easily have been the target of this kind of scam, a saving grace being the high profile of the club. They’ve likely thought that nobody would be shocked by ‘little Wigan’, but the fact that they did it all so quickly was an instant alarm bell. They haven’t even tried to cover it up. If the EFL supposedly insist on there being a £10million contingency for a takeover, there should be grounds for them to then claim that money and keep the club out of administration. Again, the EFL won’t do this, no doubt that the ‘proof of funds’ money was pinged back out of the club before the ink dried.
