Goal: #BristolCity 0-3 Aston Villa (Watkins, 73') Villa break and Trézéquet slides the ball across goal for Watkins to slot into the bottom corner.
Funny game this one, as we could just as easily be level, as be 5 or 6 down. Some poor finishing and general lack of attacking nous and quality has cost us. But O’Leary has been fantastic, he’s made some top saves tonight.
First look, and only 30 minutes, but very impressed with Bakinson. Overall impression was their reserves are far better than ours.
Eliasson was shocking, I suspect judging by tonights performance Villa won't be interested anymore, to me he cut the figure of somebody who didn't give a toss, Diedhiou showed exactly why he is such a poor striker, some of the positions he takes up beggar belief, get rid and try to loan Keinan Davis he looked quality especially in the first half, Nagy was another who never cut it for me another to move on. You are right about Oleary he kept the score reasonably respectable and Bakinson was a class above once more during his 20 minute spell.
Perhaps this match against arguably a better team might show DH who should be shown the door and who deserves a better chance to stay. Players whose demeanour says they don't give a damn are showing they have lost interest or the plot and should be shown the door. It constantly makes me ask what the hell Fammy brings to the squad, other than pure bulk, and for me he spends most of his time wandering the wilderness where no balls are ever seen. I wonder what the remainder of this transfer window will bring us and who will go, and possibly some late market loans. The loss tonight doesn't really dismay me because we are still on a learning and developmental curve and the real truth will reveal itself later in the year.
My take Fammy-Ellyson -Palmer-Nagy-Messengo time to move on. Semenyo needs to go out on loan to top league one side. Another defender-midfielder and striker required. Should retain Nikki -Max looked lost much of the game. Some great point blank saves but does not command his box.
A nice dose of reality hit us tonight, a Premier side whipped us, now we can get on with life in the Championship, looking forward to Sunday.
What game did you watch? You were doing ok up until Massengo, I would say the kid (because that is what he is) needs to go out on loan. Semenyno needs to stay and improve with us, loans have not so far worked for him and he has looked good. Max kept the score somewhat respectable at least 4 saves from guilt edged chances.
Thought we played nice football -but for me all the senior players named are not producing -Massengo for the money spent is not at the level for consistent championship performances. Semenyo looks a different player to last year and I reckon a stint at a top league one side would do him the world of good.
Just imagine if we had binned players like Bryan, Reid, Kelly, Bakinson and Vyner, at such a tender age?, after all they weren't doing a lot. The problem is he has been poorly managed, played in a team that won 4 games out of the last 14 games and playing dross.
Need to put Villa behind us quickly. The LC, especially under current conditions is such an underwhelming competition anyway, unless you get to the quarter finals or beyond. I'd happily forgo beating Villa for 3 points against Wednesday. Up The City !
We have more than enough games in such a condensed season anyway, no great loss in my book, I’d much rather we concentrate on the league , which is going to be difficult enough this season.
