I don’t mind them to be fair, Swanny was a decent player for us in his day, and Burnsy is the best of a mostly poor bunch on Blunderside. It could be a whole lot worse.
Did he invest £100k for a stake in the club. I heard something about the vacant job at Bristol rovers. The club he followed as a kid and/or played for. I guess if he was asked he'd have a job to turn it down.
I'm sorry LBIA but I don't see what being a decent player in his day has to do with his incompetence as a commentator. To be blunt "Swanny" is a disgrace to broadcasting and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a match day mike. Have you listened to Bryan Hughes? That's what a commentator should be. His play-by-play insights are relevant and informative. A pleasure to listen to. Give him a try !!
I heard he hadn't actually paid it yet, he was asked a week or two ago on RH and he said there was still some paperwork to sort out or something.
Another good win tonight in a banana skin of a game as they weren't too far off full strength. Gone largely unmentioned but thats 4 wins on the bounce and 4 clean sheets too. I get that 3 have been in cups but I always remember Bruce saying how e important cups were for getting used to winning especially when going through a difficult spell in the league. Feel tonight highlighted just how deep the squad is. Delighted to see another strong performance from Samuelson. He's almost come back from the dead in the last week and he surely deserves a start in the league. Thought Eaves didn't have a bad game too, great to see him running channels and dropping deeper. He's sometimes sloppy on the ball but we can only hope he keeps improving. Decent display from C Jones again, not perfect but he can be some player for us. Slater had another good game and Batty had a very decent 2nd half. Standout for me was Alfie Jones though, he's brilliant and a superb signing. Im not quite sure how he didn't get a championship club. He's been unlucky as Burke has started the season well but his he'll get a chance and I'm sure he'll take it. Was nice to see Scott and Mayer having a positive impact too. I think because we paid decent money for him, fans forget just how young he is. But he's starting to show why we spent on him with some good spells.
It sounds like it was a comprehensive win, great to see Samuelsen get 2 goals pity he missed the pen, to get his hattrick. I thought both Holloway & Terry's post match interviews were honest and to the point. We certainly seem to have a squad with good depth, which hopefully will be helpful as the season progresses.
They were nowhere near full strength according to the co comm last night. JT? Who i thought was very good and knew about his club
If nothing else, at least Burnsy and Swanny managed to piss off all the Grimsby fans on 'BBC Radio Hull'. A glance at #gtfc on Twitter was quite funny last night.
He was gifted one share which is worth £500 or it could have been five shares at £100 each. either way his shareholding is worth £500 which was given to him by the chairman.
"My decision to join Grimsby Town as manager this week means the start of an exciting new adventure for me and my wife Kim. And to prove our commitment to the challenge I have invested £100,000 to buy shares in the club, which means a place on the board as well as in the hot-seat. I believe that could prove a shrewd business move if I can take the team to a higher level and plans to move to a new ground go through. But for the moment it is a clear signal of my intent to be with Grimsby long-term. I am not going to agree to sack myself and my intention is to be with the Mariners for a lot longer than the period of my initial two-year contract". Ian Holloway
Has he done it or just promised to do it ? I read recently that his current shareholding in the club is worth £500.
