I can be accused of speaking after the fact but I had doubts we would see a performance today. Training ground shut for 2 weeks and no chance to work on anything. I think the players struggled to gel and the patterns werent there. If anything I thought their fitness levels were good. Would have loved a scrappy 1 nil win but we never looked loke scoring against a side you can see are drilled to defend most league 1 attacks. Sanderson looks a player. Get him on the right when Hume is back and he will give us options. Will also let O'Nien get in the middle where I still think we need a real box to box player. Not the end ot the world for me. Good week on thw training ground now.
I've just come back from the shops through the snow. Now I know how captain Scott felt. I got it early November, a very mild version, but my lungs still feel like the capacity of the size of a pair of bollocks.
C'mon lads, lack of training, bad ref, poor pitch... etc... face it we were very very average, we are not getting out of the turd division easily this season. At a minimum, we need two pacy forwards a creative midfielder and icing on the cake a good keeper... Even if our new owner has the inclination to splash the cash, wage limits and being successful in dumping the deadwood...is likely stretching reality too far?
I think if you are shrewd and recruit those that are confident in promotion you can subsidise with bonuses
You can't say that was a team with the same energy levels and preparation that trounced Lincoln 4-0 away. We know we desperately need better striking options but the club has had a wretched few weeks and very difficult preparations coming into this game.
Was a poor performance but all this stop start & covid is not helping as we can't get a rhythm going. Still think we will get on a run eventually and it will be playoffs minimum.
This is what they must be going through, I’m just hoping it was part of the problem for the teams performance cause if it wasn’t then we desperately need a better 11 asap
Power, Leadbitter, Grigg, Graham, O'brien and Wyke all need replacing. Decent replacements for the 3 currently in the starting lineup will make a massive difference.
Wouldn't lump leadbitter in with that lot. Think he's had a good season to be honest Yes we could do better but think he can still do a job for us The four forward however are a different matter. Would be happy if we never saw then in a Sunderland strip again
You're right, Leadbitter is better than the others I mentioned, but the lack of pace & tendancy to play safe makes me think we could do better.
"They way they play and with no fans and no ball boys the ball is out of play a lot" Says it as it was and also highlights one of Northampton's main tactics which was to slow the game down and disrupt the play Rely on set pieces and long balls also highlights our inability to cope with it Why take it out of context just to try and sound like a smart arse If you listen to the whole interview it's obvious he is fully aware of our problems and shortcomings And isn't making excuses
Absolutely. We have lacked pace for years going to be interesting seeing if the new setup can address it
My reply is there, post number 13. I seriously am fed up with the negativity of some of our "fans". 8 of that 11 today have had covid so there was always going to be a bit rust in the legs. yes they didnt play well but you'd think we were being relegated some of the ****e i've been reading. Seen one post saying he was pissed off as there was no progress?!? WTF are these morons on about?? Did they honestly think KLD was gonna buy the club and that was it we'd start smashing teams 4 or 5 nil. This team needs time to shake of parkys shackles.
I was happy we got a point to be honest I know the real Sunderland and the old one would of got beat.
Definately wasnt a great performance by any stretch but there is the makings of a side in that lot. I thought Power looked way more positive than he has all season - he actually had a shot on target. For me we need a creative midfielder who can create and/or take chances himself - someone who will get in there and support the forwards. Can O'Nien be that player when he comes back? I think he is wasted at right back imo Also just think our forwards are all poor and offer pretty much nothing to the team.
I've not tried to be the smart arse you cheeky ****ing prick. Any reason why you ignored the comment about Northampton being a difficult place to play? Don't be a smart arse by picking and choosing what parts suit you to answer.
