OK, humble pie time again. Hugill gets a brace. What Webber and Farke have done for our club is amazing. We probably need about 35 points to go up automatically, unless two of the teams below us suddenly put together a run of six wins each. That's play-off form.
Couldn’t agree more - Skipp getting lots of plaudits deservedly, but Sorensen more than deserves to keep his place somewhere. As for Hugill - great for his confidence. If I’m honest I don’t see him supplanting Pukki in any way, but he takes a lot of pressure off Pukki and offers us a totally different system.
Hugill will also benefit from the crossing ability of Quintilla and Placheta, though Todd provided the assist today.
It's Brentford that has the 2 games in hand. Watford are 10 points behind with one game in hand. It's the next paragraph I liked: "Ominously for the rest of the division, Daniel Farke's men have five more points than they had at this stage two years ago when they won the league by five points."
Even relegation form of 1 point per game puts us on 74 points, which has been a play-off spot in 3 of the last 6 seasons. And we've had our "harder half" of fixtures. With Swansea playing Brentford next, things could look rosier still.
You can find definitions of "Key Pass" and "Second Assist" in Opta's Event Definitions. Basically, a key pass is a pass that would have been an assist had the ensuing shot resulted in a goal. A second assist, on the other hand, is a pass (or cross) to a player who then makes an assist.
Not a single post from robbieBB during and after the game, but immediately here next day to enlighten us lesser souls about statistical matters. Where you bin robbie? I got up to follow the match at 2am, all over at 3.50 for me and back to bed.
Judging from some of the tweets I’ve seen, especially Krul and Aarons, everyone is really pleased for Hugill. Seems a popular guy and a much liked member of the squad.
Where was I? Watching the match of course. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford iFollow or Now TV. iFollow, by the way, is excellent; not only is subscribing to it a way of financially supporting the club, it also has full replays of all matches. Like re-reading a book, when you read it again you're amazed by what you missed first time As for last night, as DF said afterwards, it was our most commanding performance to date. Sørensen impresses more and more; terrific performance from him. I remember being ridiculed in pre-season for saying I looked forward to seeing a midfield pairing of Sørensen and Skipp replacing McLean and Tettey. Doesn't seem so ridiculous now, does it?
37 points would put us on 90. The teams below us would then need to average above 2 points per game to catch us. With 21 games remaining eleven wins and four draws would do it. Leaves us allowed to lose six.
I don't remember you being ridiculed for that? Although I have no idea why there is any supporter who still thinks McLean should be dropped. He's quietly awesome - he was everywhere yesterday. His accurate distance passing was critical to us being expansive. After Krul and Buendia, he's probably the third name on the team sheet I would say.
Who could our Gary be talking about? You probably know already, but read this and you'll find out. https://norwichcity.myfootballwrite...e-points-as-the-canary-engine-begins-to-purr/
McLean was excellent as well. Interestingly lowest scoring player on Who Score was Vrancic. Maybe Sorensen & McLean with Dowell at 10 are the future.
I don't remember any ridicule either. Tettey's age is against him, but we now have a very strong choice of midfield players in Skipp, McLean, Sørensen, Rupp and Vrančić, with two of those also very effective at AM. Ignoring sub appearances, Skipp is rated at 6.75 on WhoScored, while Sørensen is 6.88, McLean and Vrančić are 6.99 and Rupp is 7.0, which suggests how intense the competition is and how much stronger our midfield has become.
No criticism attached to either your memory or Rob's, given that Duncan was the chief instigator ......... Regarding our midfield strength, fine for this season, but move up a level and the picture looks very different, to my eyes at least.
