From the Evening Standard. Government may focus on ethnicity in third phase of vaccine rollout As the Government advances with the coronavirus vaccine programme, it’s expected that they will continue to target people based on age and will also focus on ethnicity in its third phase, The Telegraph reports. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is reported to recommend the continuation of an age-based approach once the rollout moves on from the most vulnerable adults as well as urging ministers to consider the higher mortality risk faced by some ethnic minority communities when deciding how to distribute the vaccine after priority groups have been reached. Now I am all for protecting the vulnerable. The biggest rate of mortality regarding employment is factory workers. The guys keeping supplies rolling out. The guys working 7 days a week throughout. Any chance of helping those guys out and stopping transmission that way?
Would someone explain this We are told that BAME are more susceptible to the virus than white trash Look at the cases and death figures from Black and Asian countries and they are no way as high as ours White lives matter please take a knee on behalf of the down trodden white man/woman
It's official. 1.7 million pushed to the front of the queue for vaccines based on Ethnicity, deprivation and weight. I actually agree with deprivation but the other two are a bit of a kick in the nuts!
Eugenist, professor, virologist scientist and sometimes computer nerd, Bill Gates has already killed thousands of Black children in Africa with his vaccines, maybe he's a closet racist
Weight, ****sake I suppose stuffing your face is someone else's fault. Glad I'll probably only have to put up with this crock of **** for another 20 maybe 25 years if I'm lucky. Please let me know when people start taking responsibility for themselves again.
Aye, that fat ****er who empties the vending machine at work everyday gets to shelter at home on 80% and gets pushed to the front of the queue for vaccinations whilst his/her work colleagues have to pick up the slack and help pay for the ****er too.
I was born in 1952 and by Christ I've said it loads of times I feel privileged to having been, I've had the best times in music, footy, fashion, neighbours etc what a piece of shyte it's become now ...get off your arse and do something...****s
It may seem harsh but old people die, and looking at figures that's what's happened with cv19. Humans seem to be the only species that thinks that's not the case
Obesity puts the biggest strain on the nhs, Covid or no Covid. Has done for a while... Aint gonna change until you tax fat/sugar, charge people by the lb to use health services etc, etc. Not all ‘larger’ people are ‘at fault’, but there’s certainly an argument that it’s largely self induced and that people can do something about it. ethnic minorities have been hit harder by Covid. That is fact. Some part of that is still not fully understood (suggestions of lack of genetic immunity etc), but it’s largely because they are more likely to live in poverty, in larger households and work in ‘front line’ jobs - the nhs for example. Now whether you should target vaccination by ethnicity or assume you pick them up automatically by targeting at risk jobs etc is open to debate, but it shouldnt just be dismissed as pc/box ticking. You also have to look at why we’re vaccinating. I don’t personally give a fck if I have a vaccine. I’ll do it if it helps stop the spread. The sooner those more likely to clog up the nhs (whether it’s deemed to be their fault or not) are vaccinated, the sooner everyone else gets back to normal.
If certain minorities are at risk due to living in larger households perhaps they shouldn't have so many kids. No different to people eating too much and being fat in my eyes.
very good question... why tax cigarettes and alcohol Im not going to get into a debate on direct v indirect taxation, but you don’t base public policy decisions on the responsible, the whole premise is dealing with the effect. Obesity costs this country a fortune, you’re paying for it one way or the other. Sadly it’s a damn site cheaper in this country to feed your kids fat and sugar than it is fruit and veg... and a lot easier of course. If you want those in poverty to eat healthy you need to incentivise/penalise.
that include the ones who look after their parents/grandparents rather than stick them in homes we’d have to pay for as well... or just the ones with kids? It ain’t the kids dying of Covid.
