Oh aye, 100% they’ll be aiming for that, I don’t want us to hit the PL too soon and be cannon fodder though. Id be happy with a push second year and back to the big league on solid ground.
I'm not sure about this one, why put it out into the open how much your spending?? It surely means your gonna get shafted by other clubs and agents. Not for me.
Maybe he's intending to spend gazillions but he he's downplaying it? Alternatively it could just be a bit of guesswork...
This is all incredible .... ... after all the gloom it's just good new on top of good news. What an absolute transformation
Puts us in the shop window, players are going to look at us as an opportunity, we need to be on the ball with recruitment
I'd like to think those days are gone mate. We have a multi-billion regime behind us ... ... little chance of keeping that a secret tbh What we're saying is 'come here if you're ambitious even if it's less money than the next club'. We've had decades of mercenaries and it doesn't work. All of the current players are aware that it's either playing for a contract or another club ... ... but in the meantime it's playing for the shirt, the team mates and the supporters. Haway the Lads, this is all wonderful.
At the end of the day KLD is in it for the glory/money. Yes he likes football but ultimately he wants to compete at the top. Spending money to get to the promised land has to be the aim otherwise what is the point?
Power is all with the buying clubs right now anyway, it’s a great time to be cash rich. Clubs are on there arse with the whole seasons hospitality and tickets lost.
This in my humble opinion, is hugely previous... when we are arithmetically promoted or have won the play-offs then we can talk about next season... until then do not jinx it.. that's my view!
Could be yet another stick to beat us with by the Chairmen and Managers of this God awful league, not that they need one cos after Friday they just make it up as they go along. Poor us against them filthy rich Mackem bastards seems a recurring theme.
Well we are then in with a better chance of being promoted... but still quite a few games left and not arithmetically assured... Not counting chickens before they are hatched (Easter theme there)... Spending winnings before your horse is past the finishing line... Having said I have an 'abundance of caution' ... the odds for getting promotion are good... none of the remaining games are easy, but if we win them all.. we are up
This is obviously a fantastic thing to read after all the doom and gloom. Let's get there first, but spend it wisely please lads. The championship is the kinda division where you can spaff £100m and get nowhere or you can spend very little and do well. I have every confidence they will do things sustainably now and ensure "creative" compliance with any FFP restrictions considering the financial knowledge we have on our board
One of the problems of having spent so much time in the bargain basement and loans division is that I've lost touch with the transfer market in the higher divisions. Even so, I think £60 million is still a significant wedge for the championship. How it is spent though will be indicative of expectations for the forthcoming season. If we buy lots of journeymen expect a consolidation season. If we sign fewer players, but landmark signings we can expect a promotion push. For me the key will be the Goalkeeper(s) we sign. Lee Burge is not championship quality and I think it would be questionable to rely on him even as a backup. So do we bring in replacements at championship level or at premiership level? The quality of signing and duration of contract given will be key indicators.
Two years ago £60m wouldn't have touched the sides unless spent very wisely. But the majority of the championship is now absolutely skint. We'd be near the front of the queue for any signings - as a club of our size should be really.
when you hear some of the cash being thrown around 60m is not a daft amount, quite a sensible figure in fact for a championship side...not blowing 'wealth out our arses' but a good figure to let others know we mean business (note: there is that added part that it will be there *if needed* for both windows). KLD is absolutely no mug in this business and has aquired plenty of good men behind the scenes and that is where we all agree, Mr Short failed himself by relying on others who found it easy to fleece him, this will not happen with KLD...the championship is going to be more of a contest and a struggle than division 3 and making sure we are ready for it without going bat-**** crazy on spending is exactly how i hoped the club would approach it, sensible growth while moving toward the ultimate goal.
Was hoping for 30 or 40 million at a push if we go up. Looks like 60 million for both windows so maybe 40-20. Not sure if it's bad timing or the right thing to do to throw it out there. I'm sure the players will show a professional attitude to the end and want to see it through to win. Some will probably be hoping they are good enough to step up and retained, And I don't think the new owner is going to be taken for a ride by other clubs and agents as he seems to be putting decent professionals in to run the club. It's a dam sight better than thinking shoestring deals and loans.
