going to the pub at 5pm when it opens, no need to book a table (1st come 1st served) but just a marquee, no heaters
**** sake has the world gone mad, my Barbour has a queue of about 30 people outside. When I tried another one it’s queue was similar. Looks like it’s a steptoe hair do for me tonight... bummer!!
Come down Chanterlands Avenue. We have four barbers shops and another ten hairdressers, many of who do both. No queuing here.
I think I’ll give it a few days until the amateurs have buggered off. By the sounds of things it’ll be full of the types who only go in pubs with work just before Christmas. They’ll probably all be wearing comedy Step 2 jumpers and flashing Covid ties! I’ll treat it like pros treat the FA Cup. Join in later when those lacking in skill or endurance have packed up and gone home.
It seems HCC have just informed several places they can't open, for various covid-compliance issues. Minerva's one of them.
If the councillors wages depended on this pub being open and serving beer then it would be open no matter what. I had a relative who put every penny he had into a cafe bar down Story Street. This was before the Health Centre was built. The building had been empty for years but he took it on. There was no goodwill trade at all and the city centre was dead on a night time, hardly any walk in trade during the day either so he put a small advertising board at the top of the street firmly attached to the railings, it just pointed out that his place was open. Of course the clip board brigade turned up in no time at all and threatened him with all sorts of action if he didn't remove it. The business eventually folded, he lost his house, and the building returned to an empty one.
Some pubs opened at 00.01am this morning. Whats madder is that some drinkers were queuing up outside. Which reminds me. Q. What has 399 legs and 12 teeth? Ans. The queue outside of Primark.
