Started well, scored a good goal. Let them bully us at the back, conceded 2 very soft goals from set pieces and had no ****ing clue how to get back into it. We were as toothless as I've seen all season - clearly a mental thing
So you’re saying this is the start of a long losing run? Just because he did that at City and Barnsley? Btw, tonight’s loss was completely the players faults. 2 corners awfully defended and unable to pass a ball to each other. Unless you think Johnson tells them to do that
i know it was poor marking by 09 for the first goal, normally he has been solid as a rock, but he is playing there to help the team out that's not his position, missed the second goal was having a piss, so will have to watch again, but it's never easy being a supporter when you feel the team just didn't want to play to the standard they can
Does anyone know why Johnson seems to have ditched Maguire and seemingly banished him to playing for the under 23's? Seems a crazy decision to exclude someone who has came on in and changed a couple of games for us in the not too distant past. Let's face it he hasn't had a load of opportunities the way same players have. Maguire disappearing from the squad seems to have coincided with the wheels coming off recently.
He’s a bad egg. Hopefully we never see him again. In fact would gladly see none of them play for the club again.
Totally agree, the play off lottery awaits, and of the four teams likely to make the playoffs I think we will be the team with the low morale given our utter collapse over the last two games. Cannot see Hull or Peterborough losing their bottle, not a wax cat in hell’s chance of that, I have learned over sixty plus years of supporting SAFC not to clutch at straws.
We will get turned over in the play offs obviously. I think there’s as much chance of finishing 7th as 2nd. Lee Johnson is often referred to as ‘streaky Johnson’, we could go onto lose every game we have left, though it’s more than plausible we do that and still finish 6th. He was manager of the biggest losing spells in Barnsley and Bristol city’s entire history.
Since 2006 (When we were bought by Drumaville) This club has changed managers 21 times. The fans who complain, moan, groan and basically throw negativity towards any manager we have had during a down period is the reason we will never get anywhere. SAFC really could do without fans like this, the club is becoming untenable to manage. I love this club and will SUPPORT it as much as I can, because in my opinion a true supporter is one who gets behind the team as much as possible, not to take every chance they can to pull it down. If its going to be the play-offs...so be it. Ha'way the lads.
Mate nearly 50% of the goals we have allowed since Christmas have came from set plays. That's not the players believe me. That's lack of drilling on the training pitch.
They wouldn't have had a great deal of time on the training pitch tbf but even so, Power got blocked off far too easily for their first goal and O'Nien was weak in the challenge. That's just players not being switched on at crucial times and that's down to the player's own in game management. Considering where we were and still having an admittedly outside chance of automatic promotion, the outrage at losing a second game on the trot from some folk seems excessive to me.
Good post. Agree with you. Simply put they are being paid to do a job right now and they aren’t doing it properly and haven’t been doing for a number of weeks but until Saturday they were getting away with it. Wheels are now off.
Statistically speaking, you're almost twice as likely to score from a set piece as you are from open play (1.8% versus 1.1% probability) so I'd have thought that 50% was relatively good.
Really? On what do you base that? His previous club where he was suffering from severe mental anxiety? Or from the past few seasons where he’s had no disciplinary issues? Or from the time when him and McGeady were at McDonalds? just interested to know. Or if it’s something else you’re making up
I think a lot of things were said in anger last night mate, probably a few people feeling a tad embarrassed today.
Is it though? We’ve had the best defence outside the pl most of the season. It can’t be training pitch due to that and can only be down to concentration or pressure.
Agreed. I wasn’t angry, just upset at how different the team looked as a whole. A few weeks ago, we weren’t playing well but we always felt we had that ‘something’ which would win us a game. Last night that looked gone. Once it was 1-1, I never had that feeling and that scares me!
