. . . . they're my (and every other Sandy's) most local professional team, and my first love Are you not going to tell us why you are, Vinkel
I was born in Sunderland, I saw my first game in 1979/80 Despite living away since 1984, SAFC will always be the greatest team the world have ever seen
Funny you should ask as another member on here asked me the same question not long before this thread. But mines a long boring explanation and it's late an am tired
you had to be one of the 'harder lads' to get away with supporting any other team at our school, besides, they are my local team although there was no great family support (not even sure my dad thought about football) but from my first game i was hooked...yes, it was still ****e.
Got into football a bit later than most, just entering my teens.Phone rings one dinner time, it's my cousin, they have gotten me a ticket for tonight's game, do I want to go? my Dad over hears "GO, you need to go, its the first game there, you'll always be able to say you were there". Cousin picks my up around teatimeish, park up near by. We approach the stadium, goosebumps. We go through the turnstiles. I walk up the steps, blue sky on a summers night, the top of the East stand comes into view, then the red seats, sea of red and white shirts. Size of the place hits me as I look down toward the south stand, then notice the green green grass. Absolute awe. I'm a sunderland supporter because of Wednesday the 30th of July,1997. FTM
