Boris did not sound at all confident about step 4 to me.There is definitely a high concern over this new Variant from India.
If he had he would have been accused of acting like some authoritarian despot. Especially by those in favour of freedom of movement.
Trying to get my head round this latest Variant. Whilst most would agree the sooner we get back to normal the better how much scaremongering was there around the South African Variant, the Brazilian Variant, and now its India. Only the Kent Variant took way to many lives sadly. Unless hospital admissions drastically ramp up then the pathway back to normality has to be the best course of action. Suppose we’ll soon find out.
I think it is easy to confuse “scaremongering” with “taking rapid action before it runs out of hand”. Though there is a case that more could have already been done to suppress this variant, and others.
This one was the easiest of the lot in theory All the testing is in place, all you need is to put a country with a quickly spreading variant on the red list straight away. No impact to the economy, although awkward for travellers in needing to isolate
The number of patients hospitalised in the UK with Covid-19 has fallen below 1,000 for the first time since the 14th September. This number peaked at nearly 40,000 in January.
Hopefully they can get a handle on the india variant , in the meantime I plan to invest into my local pub as much as possible to get the UK moving again ... just in case we are locked down again of course
BREAKING: Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that due to the new Indian covid variant people will now be offered the Pun jab Please start taking this Indian Covid Variant seriously !! my neighbour caught it and has been in a korma for a week and he's only just buried his naan
I see the doom and gloom merchants at the BBC are trying to “inform” the population about the heading Armageddon of the Indian variant. A lot of ifs and buts. Would be so nice that once in a while they pushed the positives forward.
