Versus Tuchel’s zero Reality is that Chelsea have been run properly, financially anyway, for a while now. They just spunked the Hazard and co money and the dosh they couldn’t spend because of the ban. Was frustrating to see them spend when we were not but no complaints....we did the same with VvD and Alisson.
Roman lobbed another £400m at them last year, some of it was converting current debt to equity like, but their period of self sufficiency ended there (they washed their faces for about 4 years before that iirc) Oh and you’re surely not suggesting that the starting points or both clubs were in any way similar are you? LOL.
LOL fair point that. Same goes for us mind. They clearly benefitted from stockpiling players. I hadn’t heard that Roman had payed down debt.
The most important thing is a portion of each clubs fans got to go. The chavs singing through abide with me though... karma
Are we on course to witness Chelsea lose 2 Cup finals and be out of top 4 ,hence losing cl qualification? Completely empty handed.
I heard one of the commentators said they wanted Leicester City to win because they dressed up for the occasion (suits etc) whilst Chelsea were in track suits like Tuchel. No respect for the history of that great institution. Glad no mention of our players white suits and sunglasses
Leicester City have had some journey: - Promoted just seven years ago - Won the PL title at 5000/1 odds - Top players sold for big profit - Lost their owner in the most tragic of circumstances - Yesterday won the FA Cup for the first time in their history while competing for top 4 I was never a big fan of Leicester can't help but admire and respect them as a club in recent times.
Owners have to be up there with one of best in league. They don’t throw silly money around but they give enough to be competitive and invested in the infrastructure around the club. their recruitment with young players like fofana Maddison Tielemans Barnes Ndidi has been very good as well.
Compared to say spurs they show what can be done with attitude. Spurs have flirted and bottled it.more times than is funny at this point. The owners are absentee and let levy run his personal feifdom. The fact he sacked Mourinho the night of the esl debacle shows his regressive thinking and it cost spurs in the final they had got to. They have only europa to try for now and their best players are all looking to get out. In comparison leicester have made the most of now and won things. In many ways I wish we would try a bit more in cups. I mean we treat them with total disdain actually but 4th place is not a trophy. Nobody said well klopp now the top 4 trophy twice before he won the cl. They say he lost in 3 finals. Our squad is big enough but the quality is terrible outside the first 15 but people dont want to hear it ut still want to compete with chelsea and city.
Like it or not, it is worth more than either domestic cup - both in financial terms and in global reputation, and as a means of attracting better players and therefore increasing the chances of further success and trophies in the future. I'm not championing this, just pointing it out as an irrefutable fact. Who's going to choose a domestic cup winner over a chance to play in the CL? If Leicester lose out on the CL this year, will the Cup be anything more than an ephemeral compensation? Nobody will care by next season.
I struggle to think of anyone on here who hasn't been worried about the quality drop off after the 15 and that worry has been expressed regularly over quite a few years . Oh and it is spelt Chelsea ffs
For a large part of yesterday I couldn't even remember who won the FA Cup last year. Then remembered it was Arsenal, seems to have done them the world of good down in 9th. The FA Cup is great to win (as is any Cup) its something for the fans and players to celebrate. But as you point out top4 for a club is the main objective.
