His best team/system is the one that played for the majority of the first half of the season but with fresher legs than now.
I was hoping for draw. The first half gave me reason to believe we could. We seem to make changes that weaken the midfield but don’t strengthen the attack.
Well, Leeds are pretty good. Could of easily been a draw, but Leeds always a threat going forward. Not massively disheartened, but hoping for more consistent season next year. New owner would be good too.
Sky would have been SO upset if Saints had won - from about halfway through the 1st half, when they said “Southampton are really pushing Leeds here, but I can see Leeds scoring first”, I knew they would be cheering for a Leeds win. It’s ****ing annoying .....
I think it was that Leeds changed and we did not counter. If l have one criticism of our game style, we do not seem to have a Plan B or C that will allow us to counter another teams change in tactics.
We don’t have the players ..... Once again, if we could have taken one of our chances in the 1st half it might have been different. Once the team tires, we simply don’t have the replacements. Leeds stepped up the press on us and we couldn’t keep ours up .... Simple .....
Couldn't work out what position Moussa was supposed to be playing 2nd half, totally missing for the first goal? I think Ralph got the subbing and tactics totally wrong, credit the Leeds game management, they got it spot on.
Those times Vesty stepped forward and had space, I would have liked to see him have a pop, as he has a hell of a shot on him .....
Weird old game that. I don't think we deserved to lose it (let alone 2-0), but as Dave has rightly been saying, we just don't have the right strength in depth on the subs bench, so we have to change things around by bringing on Diallo etc. All the people moaning that Stu was playing in the middle (where he played superbly, again) also moan when he gets moved into the wide role when Diallo comes on. Weird. Anyhow, a lot of positive signs in that game, despite the final score. The sad thing is, it'll be fodder to the idiot fringe on Facebook and Twitter who will be moaning that he took Tella off etc etc Ralph out bollocks. They're so wrong it's painful.
Thanks LTL - exactly. I thought Stu was magnificent, Prowsey everywhere and we were excellent in the 1st half. Danny probably would have taken one of those chances, but, hey ho, that’s what happens. Sadly, as you say, out will come the trolls and moaners ..... I just wish they’d **** off and give their “support” to another club ..... Leeds just beat Burnley 4-0 and, to be fair, 1-0 tonight would have been about right.
Leeds are also the fittest and most energetic team in the league by a considerable distance. Bad time for us to play them the last of 3 games in 7 days. Shame we couldn’t grind out the draw, but not a surprising result. Biggest disappointment for me is that the fans in the ground didn’t get a goal to celebrate.
