We’ve got a good keeper and Hojbjerg in the first half of the season was a human wall. We also stuck 10 men behind the ball for most of Jose’s reign.
Because Harry Kane’s amazing and Son has been very, very good. When Bale’s actually had chances he hasn’t done too badly either.
Never understood why they chose to sell him for just £1m...was an insane decision considering how important he'd been in winning them the title
But they were skint then and desperate for money. Loved Lennon...very under rated team player. Loads of his hard work went un noticed by non spurs fans imo
He was loved here though so **** the outsiders. Whenever he got the ball I often got a semi in excitement.
Elliot Thorpe has been linked with a loan to Hoffenheim A bit random, as Thorpe doesn't have the plaudits from those following our academy that White or Bowden have, but that could see him jump up the pecking order as a result
He's on Wasserman's books, apparently. Pretty international agency with a few German-based players. Not sure if there's any connection there to Hoffenheim, though. Can't see one.
This squad needs the biggest rebuild in the history of our club. Starting from the back these players all need to go in my opinion - Aurier Doherty Dier Sanchez N'Dombele Lo Celso Winks Sissoko Dele These are all players that dont care about the club or just aren't good enough. I think Son will stay Reguilon and Bergwijn I just dont know yet, maybe 1 more season, still think they are big talents with the right coaching. Lamela who does care seems to be going back to Italy. Vinicius I like but seems to be going back to Portugal. Bale seems to be here just for the money and an easy life. Flashes of brilliance now and again isn't enough. That leaves us with - Lloris Hart Alderweireld Rodon Tanganga Reguilon Davies Hojbjerg Lucas Bergwijn Kane Son Skipp and Sessegnon to return from successful loans And hopefully Devine and Scarlett will get chances from now on.
Agreed. Last night was shockingly bad in a season of much the same. Villa could easily have scored 5. Many of the squad clearly have no desire to play in next year's Europa League. Whoever the new manager is will need surgeon's skills to cut away so many while leaving a nucleus to work with plus whoever is signed. In all honesty the club will not be an attractive proposition for talented players unless the new boss has the right reputation. And then it might need a couple of bang average seasons before challenging again.
The biggest issue in our team is the midfield regularly looks like two people playing completely different games instead of a cohesive unit that so many of our pairings have been in the past There are pairings that just about mesh, for example the Hojbjerg/Lo Celso pairing and Ndombele/Sissoko but both come with obvious drawbacks, the former being we completely nerf Lo Celso going forward by having him play as an ersatz Dembele while the latter exposes us to Sissoko lacking something both offensively and defensively Any other combination has either seen two players regularly trip over one another by trying to occupy the same space, as Winks/Hojbjerg did last night, severely reduce our attacking play through the centre as a Hojbjerg/Sissoko pairing has, or lack the grit to shut down a game in midfield as Ndombele or Winks aren't suited to that
I think we can safely say Kane is gone if the right money is offered. And you can add Toby and Davies to the list of players who just aren't good enough. Davies at least cares and is relatively reliable but his injury record over the past 3 years has been abysmal and for a player who will never be good enough for a top 4 team, we need to move him on while he still has some value.
One of Lo Celso/Ndombele need to go and we need to get in Sabitzer...he seems more complete in both ends of the pitch than them two.
Honestly, Ndombele looks the easiest to sacrifice: for a player signed to be a controlling midfielder he doesn't have the graft that Dembele did, doesn't have the ability to pass opponents out of the match that Modric did, and doesn't have the workrate that Sissoko has If we're looking for a big ticket item to sell this summer to bring in a decent slug of cash, or to dramatically reduce the asking price of a quality signing, Ndombele is the obvious call - not least as he would be a good fit in La Liga or the Bundesliga
