Chuffed for them. Feels great having a talented youth team again after Donald sold half of them for beer money.
Really enjoyed re-reading this thread and hearing Proctors interview was the icing on the cake. Great night for our young guns, shame the final had not been back at the SoL what an atmosphere that would have been, and would have brought back some memories for me. I was in a 24,000 crowd at Roker when we played Man U in a youth cup game, we had a 100 goal a season striker called Sharkey in our ranks then, and this bunch of lads are up there imo. Good times are just around the corner, KLD is the catalyst for change we could only dream about this time last year. OaU
Made a wheely big impact, it's absolutely nuts! Fare do's, they seem to have opened a few doors and everyone seems motivated - so we appear to have fewer passengers.
Isnt the coach still Elliott Dickman? I thought he had been in charge for a while. I might be wrong, apologies if so. Certainly a different season! Plenty of new players as well who have gone straight into the side.
Dickman is still the coach yes. Don't think he was there last night though, the media lad smashed his leg in a staff game.
Think he is head of academy mate. Elliot still the u23 head coach as far as I know. Confusing though!
I think the trouble at the academy was not so much the players or the coach but the line of command , headed by that muppet Reid, what an absolute plonker.
I wonder if KLD has plans for a mini SoL for the u23s to play at, same size pitch as the SoL and all of that type of stuff. It would be tremendous, they could have the women's team and u18s playing there as well.
Damn fine performance boys. Neil, Younger & Hawkes knocking on the door.... and a few others. Great to see.
A very good job agreed. Elliott has been through some rubbish over last couple of years the way players were given away. Be nice for him to see them back. The way they played they must have a great chance of promotion which could bring loads of long term benefits.
one thing i have noticed are the 'trialists' this season, especially in recent weeks...shows they are very actively looking at players constantly looking to swell the ranks which would also mean those who are ready/capable of making the step up can do so without weakening the squad.
