A furlong out I thought it was nailed on. Only had a fiver on it but had it in with doubles and trebles.
Sorry about that mate... She give it a good ride just got pipped by a better horse on the day. That's the first one down for me today Gil. Didn't bet on the first race because I just wanted to enjoy that one. I had Soul Seeker and Guru. I think I'm going to go on Hannon's horse in the next one at Ascot.
I never had a bet on it but that's the reason I've backed it. Seemed to win a lot more comfortable than the distance suggested and I think it will progress again here.
Anybody having a go at the big Doncaster meeting this week? I know Stradivarius is supposed to be nailed on but with the rain that they've had down there, I'd be surprised if Trueshan doesn't hose up, tomorrow. I'm not betting on it as it's a race I just want to enjoy and I can never do that with a bet on because I just focus on my horse only. I've got one bet picked out tomorrow and it's just a small each way bet on TORO STRIKE. It's currently 40/1 but I don't think it will go off at that price. Most horses have one racecourse that they seem to love racing around and Toro Strike has never finished out of the top 3 at Goodwood. Top trainer and jockey combo with Fahey/Hannigan and I'm getting 4 places with BET365. He won one race by 2 and a half lengths and the two he's placed he's finished just a neck and one length behind. His 2nd place finish at this ground would put him in the places if he runs true to form. Good to soft is alright for him but if the ground goes soft that's probably going to against him.
The ground has turned heavy at Goodwood. Time to go through all the horses forms again and see which ones like running in muddy fields.
1.50 Lucander has form on slow ground and is running off his lowest mark in over a year. Majestic Dawn has come 1st and 3rd in last two runs on heavy ground but that was also carrying a stone less weight than today. 2.25 Angel Bleu has won on soft ground but that race was very ordinary. The Acropolis has done better with softer ground. Berkshire Shadow and Eldrick Jones probably have the best form in the race between them but not tackled this ground before. They might love it, they might hate it. 3.00 Creative Force is the clear favourite and should take some beating. Fundamental has finished behind it recently but running with 10lb less weight and the change in conditions could get closer this time but still probably not close enough. The rain will have definitely helped KINROSS. If I have a bet now this will probably be the horse, for me. 3.35 Stardivarius is the class horse but with these conditions now it could be Trueshan and/or Emperor Of The Sun that run big races to challenge him. 4.10 This is a wide open race. I like the look of Lord Riddiford who is running from a 6lb lower mark than for his win in February and El Astronaute who seems to be a bit high in the handicap but has great form over C&D and doesn't seem bothered by the ground.
1.50 Cockalorum & Lucander e/w 2.25 Berkshire Shadow & The Acropolis win 3.00 Kinross, Happy Power & Toro Strike e/w 3.35 Trueshan has been backed off the boards. Got him at 3/1 earlier, wouldn't back him @ 7/4. Spanish Mission e/w & a saver on Stradivarius 4.10 Recon Mission and Ishvara e/w 4.45 Monet's Sunrise e/w & Olivetti win 5.20 Urban Violet & Anghaam win All for free pretty much. Register with Betfair, place a £10 bet on the first race and get 6 x £10 for the next 6 races free. Plus 1 x £10 free bet for tomorrow. Registered me and the missus so 2 x £10 bet for races 2-7 for nowt. Also got 2 x £5 free bets from B365.
I just noticed I had a free 5a bet in my account that I never knew was there so I've stuck it on Lucander here in the first. I've had a decent size win bet on Kinross at 11/2 and an EW bet on Emperor Of The Sun. Good luck
Kinross won that easier than the finishing distance will suggest. That's sorted me a good profit for the day.
I like the look of Olivetti in the 4.45. There's two newcomers which look interesting, i originally sided with the Hannon horse because of his success this season with 2 year olds but after looking at both of their lineage, I think this horse will be seen better over middle distance rather than sprints. I might have a small bet on DANGEROUS RASCAL. Tom Ward can certainly turn one first time out and has a star jockey on board. A 6f race and he's related to 5 x 6f winners, two of them being in listed races. This seems like it will be his optimum trip so I'll take a chance on him being race ready first time out. It's drifted to 12/1 as I'm putting it on now.
Hollie Doyle tearing it up at Goodwood with a hat-trick. The most impressive horse was the Hannon horse in 2nd. The way it picked up at the end and kept going showed it will definitely be better over a mile. I think that one will be a very decent horse on that showing.
TV selections for today: Nagano Meu Amor Armor Poetic Flare Anadora I'm going to back one or two of these, just not sure which ones yet. Maybe Meu Amor as Beckett has shown his horses can thrive on this ground and this is another one of his that has form on slow ground.
